□ [“Paul Krugman Calls for 'DeMAGAfication' – 'We Really Need to do a Thorough Purging of the United States.”]
Haven't heard that name for a while, had to look up what I know this guy for. New York Times columnist and economist. Probably best known for predicting that by 2005, the internet would be as relevant as the fax machine. Most of his statements come off as very self-absorbed, suggesting that he's projecting his own views onto people he hates as an excuse to destroy them.
He starts off with the notion that Trump is the crazy one. Unanimously with all other leftists, he proclaims himself qualified to make that judgement. And as you'd expect, there's certainly no mention of how they missed this with Biden. But believe them now, or else!
Then he gets into the purge. He's not explicit about needing mass death but that's probably because he has no clue what he's actually saying. He told those in charge of him what they want to hear and they give him medals and tell him how smart he is. This probably lines up with how the media is insisting that the 77 million Trump voters suddenly hate him. Just like they turned on him last year and before the election and the four years before that and all through his first term.
They're projecting their own delusions on others. And having never really fought for anything before, they think they'll win this fight now. This mentality is what has really brought us to Civil War 2.0. And thinking about it, perhaps it's what causes war in general.

□ [“Sec. Pete Hegseth Slashes $5.1 Billion In Wasteful Pentagon Contracts Identified By DOGE"]
That's it? And it's taken this long just to get that much? I get that Hegseth has a lot to do and the contracts probably aren't something you can just turn off. Most of these savings came from a few contracts that were finally ended, there's also some cutting away at *woke* policies and funding universities. Good start but it seems a bit slow.

Hegseth is also working on this. He's already responded, "see you at SCOTUS." As always, I still expect the worst from the Supreme Court - although I have been happily proven wrong many times recently - and I am genuinely curious what Hegseth's response would be if they rule against him here. Would he comply or quit? No way to know, hopefully we'll never find out.
My guess is the Supremes will rule for him. These other judges claim banning trans from the military is unconstitutional, the Supremes are actually in the constitution. They must know that ruining the military would ruin them as well and a majority of the justices would not want that. We'll see how this helps Hegseth with everything else he has to do.

One thing that indicates Steve Ditko was headed towards a conclusion of the 'Green Goblin' storyline, or at least a major change of direction, was the simplicity of most of final issues. After the 'Master Planner' trilogy, most of the remaining issues started and ended with a bit of Peter Parker's life and the fight against the villain was the rest of the issue.
The only two exceptions were #36 and 37. The first one was mostly a fight scene, it just was broken up by a bit more with Peter. The second one is the only issue after the 'Master Planner' trilogy that lives up to the best of the series and it's the one that focuses on Norman Osborn as someone who is clearly doing something villainous, but he's not the actual villain of this story.
I'm beginning to think that was the point Ditko was making as he analyzed organized crime and its connection to big business. Osborn was clearly the central figure there. His ultimate goal had been set up since the very first issue with the Green Goblin, a (horribly-written) bit about his plan to establish a world-wide crime organization and all he needs to is get rid of Spider-Man first.
Leaving aside the idiocy of that goal, Ditko's portrayal worked very well. Osborn had influence, wealth, resources. He easily got away with his murder of the villain and the reader knew it. In hindsight it perfectly fits that he's the Green Goblin, that's how he did this. And this illustrates how he's working towards that goal.
The other villains in these runs are almost forgettable. Only Kraven the Hunter and the Molten Man would become regular villains and, looking it up, they would never be used all that much in the next few decades. I'm also surprised to find that Meteor and A Guy Named Joe ever appeared again. But would be a long time before Marvel needed to dig through its IPs to find something to use and finally got around to these.
I think Ditko's intent was to distinguish between basic criminality of the superhero genre and the more complicated and effective means being used by Norman Osborn. The readers would see the difference and whenever the Green Goblin was finally exposed, that would explain a lot about organized crime and its connection to big business. There's no way to know what would have happened from there but Ditko had spent at least three years building this far and had set-up more.
But because he never explained anything for the rest of his life, we don't know what else was going on. He hadn't talked to Stan Lee for months but Lee must have had some way to pass on messages, perhaps even giving orders. Whether Ditko obeyed or gave it any thought, he must have been bothered by how Stan and Marvel were handling his work. That's just natural, no reason to think Steve Ditko was magically exempt from such a reaction. So we don't know how that affected his final issues.
He was definitely aiming for a long storyline with Doctor Strange and I'm guessing he was determined to finish that before leaving. And that's what happened. His final
Spider-Man
had a few scenes which can be speculated about but really nothing to indicate that he was raging out about anything. I've only read that Doctor Strange storyline once and am very tempted to go through it again to see if I notice anything this time.

□ [“Even
The View
is Turning on Graham Platner, Calling Him a Racist, Liar and Homophobe"]
Official media propaganda has spoken out, he's done. They need to ditch him as soon as possible but the election is close, if he quits now there's nothing Democrats can do about it. They are having that fight now, some of them insisting that winning power is the only real goal. But everyone in charge needs to erase this from public memory as soon as possible. Otherwise they'll keep being asked how they got to this point.
That's how they got Swalwell. That's how they got stuck with Harris running for POTUS without having to face a primary. That's how they got Biden in the first place. If their supporters are that easy to manipulate that they just go along with all this, they have very little to bring to the table. They can show up to protests, they'll vote for Platner, what else is there?
I assume Platner will be told to shut up. Right now he's dragging his wife out to defend him, not a good sign, but the fact that he's gotten this far indicates that he could expose some other Democrat secrets by now. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren haven't been asked why they supported him, perhaps he knows things about them they don't want the public to learn. I'm sure that'll be shut off quickly, no exposure, but it's nice to think about that.
