Still thinking about that 'abstract' notion.  As usual, it's really close to what I'm trying to get after, and obviously it's got a lot of historical basis.  It seems to be insisting that ideas actually exist in a separate reality which I don't get.  To the extent that the idea of a 'chair' exists, it exists here.  It seems more like a definition of a definition.  That thing you're sitting on, that's a chair.  It would be a chair whether or not you had the slightest clue what a chair was.

I don't think that's fundamentally any different for ideas like 'love' or 'justice.'  We have the language and the vocabulary, it's just a way of collectively expressing our thoughts and/or emotions.  My definition isn't necessarily the same as yours, but we can still communicate, as long as we have the same language.

We're all individuals, our concepts and definitions carry along with that.  We've known for thousands of years what a 'woman' is, now all of a sudden the people who go for this 'abstract' concept have no clue.  Really, it's them as individuals trying to impose their will upon everyone else.

Been looking a little more into Thomas More's "Utopia."  Not enough to read it because come on, but it really isn't that different from modern leftism and most of the difference just has to do with technology or lack of civilizational experience.

There are references to it being a satire, I don't see that.  It's possible More realized that this goal couldn't be reached, at least not at the time, but it's too much like modern leftism for that to be possible.

Land is collective, specifically opposed to England's enclosure which lets people farm for themselves and is really where that nation took off.  Enclosure is what *causes* theft so it must be gotten rid of.  All supplies are stored in a warehouse where anybody can take what they want.

The population is limited to 6000 households in each city, any extra people are just shipped to the continent.  They'll be called back if the population gets too low.  People can move in from the mainland and if they don't like the place, can leave.  Every household is scattered to keep the population equal everywhere.  This isn't how humans behave but More somehow decides that's what will be best?

Everybody must farm and must have one other trade.  Women are usually weavers, making the exact same clothes for everybody, nothing fancy.  And of course slaves handle the rest, they came from war or poor people.  No wonder "scholars" are the ruling class/priests.  Everybody eats the same meals in public, but the old and ruling class get a better selection.

Some of these slaves are local criminals, although I thought crime was supposed to be stopped.  They're punished by... wearing chains made of gold.  Gold is also used for chamber pots because it's... the source of the nations' wealth and therefore despicable.  It's not clear why they would use gold in the first place, either as wealth or when taking a shit, much less how they find it on this island.

Sex for priests is allowed, divorce is fine, sex outside marriage is punished by enforced celibacy and/or slavery.  Slavery is also a punishment for people who move around within the island without carrying a passport.

Bars and taverns are not allowed, nor any place where people can meet in private.  There are multiple acceptable religions, worship of the moon, the sun, the planet, the ancestors and the one, true God.  Astrology is not supported, which doesn't explain how those first three religions can do anything.

More wrote this around the time Martin Luthor was making his big move against the Catholic church.  I have not looked up specifics on what all was going on there - I get all this from Wikipedia, gimme a break! - but there's a comment about it being inspired by life in monasteries.  That strikes a bell and I should look into that further, they would obviously be part of the church as well as outside most of normal society.  I could definitely see gays and revolutionaries being tempted to go there.  No idea if they'd make it, but over the centuries, it looks like they did.

To the extent I understand any of this, this could be part of More's inspiration.  He lived in a monastery for a year or so before getting married and running for Parliament.  He would end up working for Henry VIII, which must have been problematic for everyone involved.

As I go through the 'History project,' I notice that I've reached the point where a lot of these monarchs are related and have really gotten into inter-marriage.  Henry VIII's sister Mary Tudor was the Queen of France, not just in the sense that English monarchs claimed to hold the throne but married to the real King of France.  At the same time, Charles V of Spain was ruling Germany and lots of Italy, having come from a family that had intermarried to that point.

My point is that this is what these ruling classes had been trying to do, the same thing they're after now, just doing it through marriage with help from the church.  And directly or not, this is all based on Plato's philosophy from two thousand years earlier, distinguishing between the real world and the 'abstract.'

I'll need to look into it more - like everything else - but my first thought is that their version of 'abstract' always lines up with 'how I want things to be.'  Even if it's not conscious, that's just the nature of the individual.  But it means dismissing other individuals from the viewpoint because what I want is more important that whatever you're into and I'm the one trying to reach the abstract reality, you're just an idiot or a thought-criminal.

Maybe you're just too focused on the real reality and that's why I know you're wrong.  Hmmmm...

I haven't found any specific reasons yet for this - beyond blaming the right for everything - and I do assume they'll continue with the Ministry of Truth, but otherwise it's a slight victory.  Still, it's possible she'll stay in charge, they'll just list her as an advisor and put someone else's name on the door.  Regardless, they'll keep doing this, no matter the cost.

But I do have to wonder what caused this?  Too many quotes available online where she specifically intends to destroy people who disagree with her?  Promotion of censorship?  Saying something that she's eagerly willing to ban if anybody else said it because that's her job?  Been given a bunch of Biden quotes and say she'd totally ban those?

I do think there are policies on high-levels to handle such things without letting the peons know about them.  There must be some sort of high-level security that actually looks for possible problems like this and has ways of getting involved.  They pretended to support freedom of speech and were obviously lying, maybe that's it.

With a leftist in charge, non-leftists aren't permitted, that much is obvious.  Maybe it interfered with the incoming WHO rulers.  The 1st amendment spreads disease so they need to get rid of it.  The Ministry of Truth would *officially* have no authority, it would just pass on to the tech companies whoever needed to be censored.

Ok, we need to purge these creatures from the planet.  My suggestion would be for rational people to simple break away and let these fuckers starve to death.  How do we do that is a harder question to answer.  It's quite possible - even likely - that many small groups will be breaking away anyway, but we need to do it on a bigger scale as quickly as possible.

I keep trying to work out how we would handle trade and supplies.  There's also the need for defense, given that the mobs would come after us.  Naturally I would look for military veterans to oversee things.

Gas prices just keep going up, we'll need to find some way.  I think the electric cars will soon fall apart but I expect the enemy to have a back-up.  Dunno what that is but safe to assume they won't just fall apart right away.  That would be so much more convenient for the world.

We'd need a way to make money work.  I don't see any better option than maintaining the dollar but there'd either need to be a replacement of some kind or a way to maintain the dollar itself without the nation it came from.  Fortunately trade would be useful in small amounts but we'd need actual money as soon as possible.

Food, supplies, fuel, medicine, a way to finance it, communications with other units.  These need to be worked out as soon as possible.

I had a thought about the movies' recent attempt to establish a 'multi-verse,' is it based on thinking people will self-identify as a given superhero played by a specific actor?  Because that's not going to work.

One thing that comics had going for them (or against them, depending on how you look at it) is that the characters and the story were the main point, especially with corporate-owned superheroes.  There's preferring a Spider-Man done by Steve Ditko over John Romita or Todd McFarlane or whoever, then there's self-identifying as Spider-Man which is not a good idea by any stretch of the imagination.

But are you supposed to carry that over into self-identifying as the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, as opposed to the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man or Tom Holland Spider-Man?  Or even relating to one version of this movie character as opposed to the other versions?

I don't know if that's exactly what Marvel leftists are trying to do but it seems mostly-accurate, and makes about as much sense as actually becoming Spider-Man.  That's just too mind-bogglingly far away from reality to even contemplate.

I quite enjoyed the Maguire movies.  Haven't seen them in ages but I'd have no objection to seeing them again, even the third one.  Have no interest in seeing the others.  The only reason I know anything about the Holland run is because he appeared in Captain America 3 and Avengers 3 and 4 as Tony Stark's boytoy with a stupid costume.

The recent Spider-Man movie brought all three of these actors together, obviously implementing the 'multi-verse' viewpoint.  I was tempted to see it just for the novelty but never got around to it.  Anyway, I really think that's what they're trying to do, impose some form of 'self-identification' and they're trying to do it through the history of fans obsessing with superheroes and bringing that over to those who obsess with movies.

The people running Hollywood (or Disney) may have way over-expected the number of people who actually want to deal with this stuff on a regular basis.  Or even an occasional basis.  Word is coming out that none of the recent Marvel movies have been even remotely successful.  They aren't bombs but they get their biggest audience the first week and that's basically it.

There's however many people are eager to go stare at a screen for hours to look at people and special effects and pretend that they're getting something out of it, then there's everybody else who finds something to do with their lives.

And they want to expand this to all these other characters?  All the other franchises?  All the other companies?  All aimed at people who define themselves by staring at a screen?

In every medium, leftism focuses on making it all about leftism and ignoring everything else.  But I do think it stands out for movies.  Reading requires effort, music isn't going to communicate anything particularly coherent, nor is drawing/painting.  Movies involve watching people do things, specifically produced with or without special effects, requiring a massive crew of people behind the scenes and dealing with a large number of very-different crafts all required to get the people onto the screen.

It's not the cause of leftism by any stretch of the imagination but it does seem to be a good description of how it works and its insane belief that it can accomplish anything in reality.  Obviously leftists existed before movies did, they just didn't have as much to work with then.

But who are these people who think that every waking moment staring at a screen is accomplishing anything?  Of course they'd claim that I'm doing the exact same thing here but writing and reading are actual skills that take energy to accomplish.  They simply don't recognize that fact.

But of course there hasn't been 28 brand new songs in all that time.  There hasn't been part two of his 'trilogy.'  The latest setlist I can find (October 3, 2021) has 8 songs from Appetite for Destruction, 1 more from Lies [I don't count "You're Crazy" as a Lies song since it was on Appetite.  They could play it on a ukulele in pig latin and it would still be a song from Appetite.] and 9 songs from UYI, five of which were songs they had before Appetite was released and/or were covers.  There are a few more covers, some fairly new, and the three old songs they've just released in the last few years.

Obviously I've dropped most of the attention I had been paying to this band not long ago but it still sometimes gets to me, what the hell is this band for?  At this point I have to wonder if it was intentional all along and if it wasn't, why would anyone pay to hear a bunch of old songs by a guy who can no longer sing and whoever his current employees happen to be?

There's something deliberate about it, I suspect it was to destroy modern music.  G'n'R was the last major rock band, they were immediately deep in Hollywood from the start.  The UYI albums were released at the same time as Nirvana's Nevermind which destroyed rock'n'fuckin'roll.  Both were on Geffen Records so the company was obviously planning this.

I also do think it has something to do with mindless fans although I don't have a clue how that works.  My mind doesn't work that way which defeats the purpose of getting people to hand over large sums of money to listen to "Mr. Brownstone."  But there's something there anyway.

Then Petruchio started working at a shoe store...

So I've been thinking about Shakespeare lately, getting closer to that part of the 'History project.'  I've paid very little attention to him for most of my life.  I think I've seen movie versions of Hamlet and Romeo and Juliette, nothing else comes to mind.

But I did want to give something a try, just not sure what.  There must be some performance on Youtube, so it came down to deciding which play to pick and then looking up some version.  When I found The Taming of the Shrew, that was the obvious pick.  Looking it up on Youtube, there was a version of a movie made in 1929, the first 'talky' Shakespeare movie ever.  So in a couple ways, it was from the early days of modern civilization.

It also started Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, two of the biggest movie stars ever, both in their first 'talky' as well.  They had gotten married after Fairbanks convinced Pickford to get divorced from her first husband but by this point it looked like their marriage was getting ready to fall apart, although it would be several years before they finally got divorced.

So it's an interesting set-up for me to experience Shakespeare.  Unfortunately this version was clearly edited, it was barely over an hour long and doesn't have any subplots which, looking it up, the actual play does and the original movie probably did.  The sound editing is also bad in places.  There's also the difficulty of understanding what people actually talked like five hundred years ago, which often didn't match the captions which I did have some difficulty reading.  But much, I'd say at least 80% of the story on screen did get through, even for me.  I do admit enjoying it.

I don't have any familiarity with the actors.  Fairbanks had a bit part in Intolerance which I have seen once, a long time ago, but that was it for my previous experience with these founding movie royalty.  So they were effectively brand-new as far as I was concerned and I did like them.  It must be an interesting challenge for actors to do characters who are fundamentally dislikable and make them interesting to the audience and these two were great.

Petruchio and Katherine are very broad characters, there's little depth to either, but they're very entertaining.  The main problem is that the story came from an era where, at least for upper classes, women didn't pick their husbands, they were assigned to the best choice their parents could make.  That probably helped make marriages better than they are now but it's still not workable.  Both parties knew the point of life was to provide and protect and they were better off.  Otherwise men be ditching the bitches giving up the pussy.

Even so, the set-up really doesn't work.  There's no reason given Petruchio would want to marry anybody except for her father's money but if that was the case, he's already got a mansion with servants, just put her in her own house and never deal with her at all, problem solved.  And Katherine, well, she is a woman, that's basically all there is to say.  Why would she decide to go along with her father's wishes this time instead of getting away with complete insanity as she'd done her whole life?

But ok, we've all seen stories about couples that don't belong together but that's what the story requires.  This is obviously a fundamental version of that tale and it certainly works in its own right.  I looked up a few clips from other versions, I did not find the one from 1967 starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton but safe to say that's a good thing, but I did see one from a 1976 performance by people I've never heard of, the scene where Petruchio and Katherine first meet, and that's just delightful as well.

The entertainment value still stands out and I'm definitely glad I watched what I could.  They both stand out as characters that you don't care how they end up, you just want to watch them getting there.

The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name which is whatever they self-identify as.

Most of the microchips we use for anything are made elsewhere.  So are our semi-conductors, circuit breakers and lithium batteries, drugs and car parts.  Our electric transformers are made overseas, so if they break down (or are broken by someone) that's it for them.  Where would replacement parts come from, Russia's ally China?

Don't forget, a lot of mechanical devices replace their parts on a regular bases for standard wear-and-tear.  A few months pass and they would require every single part to be switched out for something they wouldn't be able to get at any price.  Refrigerators and heat pumps would go away.

Who would bring parts to us, the WHO?  Not likely.  No one's going to pay for naval shipping and planes would be far too expensive.  Anybody getting into that would eat the cost if anything whatsoever goes wrong.  No one's going to do that.  Supply and trading rely on peace which leftists are demanding to get rid of.  Russia and China would be quite capable of shooting down anyone who tries to transport supplies to the US.

I've said it before but the military's not remotely capable of handling this.  They can usually handle it as part of a mission but that's it.  Even a military dictatorship wouldn't be able to oversee all the required trade with America's enemies overseas and at home.  And they're being run by people who demand to give billions of dollars worth of free stuff to other countries, including things we're already short on here.

I keep saying this but we desperately need the truckers to go on strike now.  In two weeks, the WHO will have voted for total control over all of us and leftists around the world will applaud it.  We're already miserable and it will only get far worse.

Beyond that, we need to work out actual supplies and production.  The Constitution is the only thing that keeps us from stomping them into the ground right now and they want to get rid of it.  Ok, let's go.  It would be nice to think our masses can easily cut them into little pieces and we'd just go on with our lives but that's what I think they've been planning for.  The only up-side is that their incompetence would overwhelm them but that's not something I would count on happening any time soon.

I hate to say we'd need leaders but we'd definitely need organizers and unfortunately leadership would be part of that.  Regional, maybe, but it would be real clear very quickly how messed up the cities are, then everybody would be out to get anywhere else and take whatever they could.

This just gets more depressing to think about it and it'll be worse when it actually happens.  It's the sort of mentality that can't make any long-term plans because everything will fall apart at any moment.  I get the concept of having a goal in mind, I don't see it working under any circumstances that currently exist.  But I'm still here and that's why I write this for as long as possible.

If I had any more to give, I'd be a lemming. I'd also have a joke that makes sense.

The price of diesel fuel is getting worse, particularly on the East Coast.  There may even be shortages.  The truckers are going to stop sooner or later.  Hopefully sooner.  They're leaving signs of upcoming shortages on the Love's stations.

Safe to assume the rulers will impose price controls, knowing full will this will increase the shortages.  They want people to be denied the right to travel.  They're going to deny a lot more as soon as possible.

This helps explain the 'abortion' nonsense of the last couple weeks.  It was a distraction for the intended end of the US on May 27, with all authority being given to the self-appointed world government.

Will they force everybody to wear masks and more or will they support the elite not having to take part in any of that nonsense, only the peasants must comply?  It's like saying no laws are permitted if they're in opposition to the Constitution, they're going to ignore that anyway.

Whatever else defines these creatures, they're clearly against the very concept of maturity.  They can get away with anything they do to anyone at any age and they'll get away with it like stupid kids.

If they did notice this - and if they genuinely cared, that's required too - they'd be demanding that whatever Biden has done to the government needs to stop immediately and go back to the way Trump did it, which made food cheap and plentiful.  But they don't want that.

Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety."

It's just a pose, they're totally supporting the protesters and don't care who gets late-term aborted as a result.  But they have to pretend they're an actual government of all the people, including those they want to destroy.

But those aren't options, strange how that works?  The media doesn't even cover this stuff, it's all Ukraine all the time.  They know best and anybody who disagrees with them is evil, they can't conceive of any alternative, the "closed mind" they accuse others of having.

As always, I assume we're on the edge of disaster and our leftist masters intend to push us over.  As collectivists, they want to destroy every aspect of individuality and never see how that can hurt themselves.  They don't get to "self-identify" as not being individuals, reality doesn't obey their orders.  All they can do is impose their will on everyone else using men with guns.

I think this is where human misery generally comes from, the collectivists trying to command everyone else.  If we all accepted our individuality, it'd be a lot easier to get along with others and trade what abilities we have for what others can produce.  But these creatures never want to go along with that.
