Having said that there was no inflation and they weren't going to do anything and whatever other excuse they've given in the last year and a half, our rulers have given some thought to actually helping the population with these ridiculous prices.  They thought it would be a good idea to send out rebate cards.

One problem is that there's no way to specify that it's only for gas purchases, people just might use it on something else.  Another problem is that they don't have enough chips.  They'd need to go through China to get that.  They'd probably - it's actually unclear - need Congressional permission to do this as well, what are the odds of getting that?

If there's an upside to this misery, we're all getting to watch how people who have no idea how to do anything are responsible for doing things.  If you're going to mess with the country that makes your supplies, you'd better have a back-up in place.  If you're going to make this utterly stupid decision, you'd better have someone around who will openly disagree with you.  Don't make the people you rule suffer unless you genuinely want them to suffer.

Ok, that last part worked out but you get my point.

Apparently the two missing have a military background.  I've wondered how many of the American supporters of Ukraine, the ones who actually went over there to fight, were leftists sent to enlist so they could join Antifa and the related groups.  I'm still positive there are a lot of those people, many of whom may have stayed in the military to get promoted and take charge.

I will admit giving them a little credit for at least being willing to go overseas and fight for Ukraine if they really wanted to.  I think it's an incredibly stupid idea and I don't pity them, but at least it's something.

Russia just cut 60% of their natural gas supply to Germany, that's probably the reasoning behind this.  They've also cut natural gas to Italy by 50% and to France by an unknown percent.  The official reason is that there are mechanical problems with a turbine that can only be repaired by equipment from Canada but Canada has obeyed the sanctions against Russia.

At least Germany still has its nuclear generators.  Wait, they gave those up.  Maybe their pride for doing that will keep them warm this winter.

Still, if there's anybody who likes making accusations against anyone they don't like and the police are required to get involved, there's going to be a need for a lot more courts.  That will require buildings, maintenance, judges, lawyers, armed guards...

The Secret Service should be the first ones to be disarmed by law.  One leftist plan I ran into today is that anybody can accuse anybody else of criticizing the government and they'll be disarmed.  Ok, accuse the Secret Service.  They shouldn't be allowed to shoot people.

At this point, who would trust this currency other than the rulers?  Their relatives?  Their neighbors?  The co-workers of their relatives and neighbors?  Their voters?  Their plumbers?  One doesn't have to get very far away from our masters to find people who really wouldn't want to be involved in this, they'll want real money.
