Cats can't vote, why is the cat getting more votes than me to be in charge?

You don't learn in business school how tough it is to run one of those all-night tuba repair shops.  You find out who your friends are real quickly when they want their stuff fixed right now and there's ten other stores they could go to just in this part of town.  I was thinking about these issues while resoldering a new linkage pin and then she walked in...

She reminded me why I was born a baby and then a couple decades later grew into a man.  She had eyes like eyeballs, little blobs of color which blinked occasionally.  Her hair was several different colors, like she had dyed it with whatever she was in the mood for this week.  I think she was wearing clothes too but I'm a guy, we don't pay attention to stuff like that.

"Excuse me," she said in a husky voice, "I was wondering if you could replace my... shoulder strap.  Mine's a little worn out."

"Sorry," I said, "tubas don't have shoulder straps.  You're talking about a sousaphone."

"Oh."  She left, disappointed.  It's a rough business, all we can do is know which instrument we're paid to focus on.  Without that, we have nothing.  I started replacing a cork bumper.  We should at least be able to rely on the tuba.

□ [“Fulton County Scanner Failures Leave 1,069 Early Ballots Unread"]

It's only noon as I write this and there's already a lot of voting sites having problems.  Partially it's about giving a chance for fraud.  Fulton County is Atlanta, Georgia and as you may know, I'm always suspicious when Atlanta is involved, so the black female elections director is trying to get these ballots rescanned *after* the polls are closed.  Funny how no one will be watching then to see what the results are.

Other places include Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arizona, New York, and those are just the ones I've heard about now.  Besides the possible fraud, there's also an atmosphere of chaos which can help whoever has a specific mission underway.  That includes our side as well as the adversary but it's still relevant.  Yesterday electricity went out in DC, the "Foggy Bottoms" district where the State Department, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund are located.  There's no reason to think this wasn't timed for the moment they sent out funds and/or instructions to subordinates, what's not clear is whether they were behind the outage or we were.  Or someone else.

In addition to the fraud and the chaos, this just reinforces that no one is going to trust the election results.  Democrats already do that every time Republicans win but it sounds like there will be enough shadiness that Republicans won't trust it either, even if they win.  Sure there's reason to hope but that won't chew the pie (or whatever the saying is.)  Then there's the way California and Minneapolis are preventing federal observers from seeing what's going on.  Not remotely trustworthy.

Newsom is out boasting that he's defying the fed and every leftist state defied the federal requirement to make sure all their voters are legal citizens.  They've already been getting foreign aid, it's not like they're going to stop that now.  We see this with the other election problems going on around the world.  I'm still optimistic about the results but then I had the same feeling in 2020.  Of course I was totally negative in 2016 and 2024 so obviously you can trust my track record on this.

□ [“‘You’ll Be Killed’ Ilhan Omar’s Somali Backers Use Death Threats, Street Attacks to Silence Critics"]

It must remind them a lot of home.  I'm probably a bit more optimistic on immigration that other right-wingers but I'll freely admit that it's a double-edge sword and there must be limits.  We're at a point where those limits should be a lot tighter than normal just to make up for all the years where they've been looser than normal.  And things like this need to be banned permanently.

Omar and her people have been quiet recently, probably making those threats stand out.  It's also being accepted as basically true, her dad worked for a murderous dictator, this family was protected by Democrats and helped to get wealth and power in this country.  They're trying to grow "New Somalia" as big as possible.  At this point the only uncertainty that comes to mind is if these people are actually a blood family or if they just pretend to be one.  Omar married someone listed as her brother, were they genuine siblings?

We haven't heard anything about how well she's doing in the election.  In one sense, it's a given that she'll easily win.  In another, the Trump administration may have actually halted the fraud and just the atmosphere surrounding the Somalis could encourage more people to get rid of them.  I'll continue to be pessimistic but there's still a chance something will happen here.

□ [“Michigan Voters Reveal Big Problem for Dems After Haley Stevens Endorsed Rogers"]

This is all anecdotal, voters saying with no evidence that they're voting against El-Sayed and for a Republican instead.  I'm guessing that the left attacking a woman for disagreeing does trigger a lot of people to resist that but I still think this is largely about the tide turning after what we've seen for the last few months.  You support Lucy Craig changing her mind but no other woman?  That's not a good look and it's your excuse to support Islam?  And you don't see any reason for doubt or even questions about this?

Even Pete Buttigieg gets asked about this.  He avoids answering as much as possible but does have to give a "yes" regarding voters turning against El-Sayed.  The guy says Jewish voters are like the KKK, you can't just go along with that and still be considered a possible future political candidate.  At least not unless you really do support El-Sayed's long-term goals and Buttigieg wouldn't live very long if those came to pass.  So there's probably also an undercurrent of realizing the threat of Islam here.

Another Michigan state representative also spoke out against El-Sayed and endorsed the Republican but she's a black female so she'll probably just be ignored.  Because "equality."  You can say it started with Haley Stevens or whoever but these people are finally seeing that they can speak out in defiance of their leftist masters.  That's going to encourage more people to do it, especially if there's a lot of voters who've claimed they'll vote Democrat but don't follow through when they fill out the ballot.  Anything that's not a huge Democrat victory will let them know that there are others like them out there.  The right wing had that reaction in 2016 and especially in 2024.

And then what's going to happen to all the high-ranking Democrats who immediately spoke out to attack Stevens?  They rushed in to an issue that was none of their business, they unanimously attacked a woman for disagreeing with them and (possibly) it looks like they'll all lose for doing that.  It's still early, barring a major victory we won't know the results for a while and I'll be busy this evening so I won't be able to comment but there's at least a chance the left will be extremely depressed by the time they go to bed tonight.  We'll see how violent they get tomorrow, or suicidal, or both.

□ [“Disney Eyes Thousands of Layoffs in Push for 20% Cost Cuts"]

They've already been cutting jobs but that's only a start.  I don't know how much they've really cut costs, they still have a lot of expensive product to release.  I'm sure replacing these jobs with A.I. is one reason for this but I also suspect it's mostly about being a lot deeper in the hole than they expected.  Maybe they just assumed everything would work out fine or maybe they were completely ignorant of how much the company was wasting but I suspect some of them at least have a hint now.

Movie studios use incredibly complicated financial systems and Disney is probably among the most-complicated of the lot.  They're part of a lot more industries than most and want to push their product all around the world so it needs compliance.  Most or all of the people in charge were 'yes men' so they never bothered to look at how things work, assuming they would even understand any of it.  There's a lot of space and time for things to go wrong with nobody doing anything to fix it.

I think that's why Hollywood is in such bad shape overall, made worse by the need to accommodate the *woke* agenda pushed by their elites for decades.  But it looks like they expected to wind up in a place where either money is imaginary or it's real but they have all of it.  This was what their plans were based on and it has worked out very badly for them and everyone involved.

For whatever reason, Disney has always been the icon, a solid brand that could always be relied on, a logo you could trust.  But they've worked so hard to destroy that reputation, it doesn't look possible to rebuild from this.  The employees who made that happen aren't the ones losing their jobs now because the company has headed over a cliff.
