My guess is they'd known for a while that the "dispensaries" weren't going to work out and had been expecting the federal government to bail them out.  Gangs and politicians were probably already planning what to do with all the permanent income they could rely on and suddenly that's gone.  They aren't slaves but they can never be allowed to escape.

The pipeline was shut down because of the war, but that's still seven miles of serious danger.  One of those miliary things where you don't care which side is doing this, the only proper response is 'wow.'  Now it might only be possible because the US is no longer providing Ukraine with full info from satellites and whatever else we use for scanning.

European elites, really really support this war, have finally gotten around to noticing that their military strength would only last for a week or so without the US doing everything.  They don't remotely have the troops or equipment to actually defend themselves and it would take years for them to build up the required strength.  Maybe they should have thought of that before getting into this war.  It's often said about military stuff, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Just speculation, but it's possible WWIII is really about the self-appointed 'new world order.'  It's quite obvious that the elites of the EU are on that side, with Ukraine as either an ally or a puppet.  And so were Biden and the uniparty in the US.  That would put Russia and China in line to overthrow them, or more likely to replace them.  I've even wondered if this was why the *woke* agenda had been pushed for the last decade or so, to make them go too far so that the US and Europe are fed up with it.

But there's also a question about what the Muslim world is doing.  Charles plays the 'call to prayer' at Windsor Castle and his ex-wife Diana was very close to Muslim elites when she died, is there a chance that the monarchy and/or the papacy have secretly converted to Islam?  That could even explain why they're all so *woke,* it's a way of punishing the infidel and encouraging Islam.  Not sure where they would stand on WWIII going on, but this could explain a lot about what's happened in the last 24 years.

Anyway, if this interpretation of the ongoing war is accurate, I can't imagine how anyone actually makes plans with all this going on.  You could almost see it as a reason to use A.I. because no human mind could perceive the complexities.

No idea what's actually going on in Syria since it's just been left devastated for the last... looks it up... three months???  Assad fled power on December 8, 2024.  OMG that seems like a long time ago.  But something like this indicates that he really was the only thing holding the country together.  Don't know if Turkey has been moving in up north but that wouldn't surprise me.

It's probably similar to Iraq in that the Middle East may have the oldest continuous civilization, but they've never really gotten into being an actual "nation" like western countries have.  They briefly tried to unite with Egypt and then were taken over by Assad sr. and jr. as Ba'athists, i.e. an attempt to make Arab socialism.  And this is how the region winds up after a few decades of that.

Glimpsing at its history, Syria just keeps getting conquered by someone else, however helpful it might be to the latest rulers.  Someone who is more knowledgeable about the Middle East than me may have a different view, but the World War I Sykes-Picot Agreement is usually blamed for all this.  My initial impression was different, just that Syria and the whole region was just way too big of a historical mess for anyone to have negotiated a good result.

Whatever they did to Jerusalem or Baghdad or any other part of it was essentially irrelevant.  All the different nations, all the financial or religious or tribal interests, layered over countless centuries, it just seems hopeless.  But that also means that there's really no chance for peace.

Makes me wonder if the point of this is let these lunatics identify themselves.  Not so much for punishment - although *wow* they go a long way towards understanding why people would support totalitarian revenge against leftists - but to let them burn out.  As individuals and as part of their collectives, UCLA in this case.  Why would you hire such an insane person?  Who else have you hired like this?  This cuts down on the federal funding and students willing to pay tuition for this crap.

It's possible actual revolutionaries are out there making plans and practicing tactics, but they would be smart enough to do it quietly.  You'd think this law professor could at least be at the gun range to get ready for thing to go kinetic.  After all, the military might not obey him, so they'll also need to be punished.
