It's taken years but they've finally gotten around to investigating AOC for accepting expensive gifts which members of Congress aren't supposed to do.  You give the bribes to someone else and then they give it to the congressman.  But AOC doesn't care about that.  This is about accepting a free $35000 ticket to the 2021 Met Gala for her boyfriend, but only spouses can be given this free gift.

Her attorney defended her by saying her very-rich boyfriend is considered her spouse.  "Considered"?  He was also given free travel to South Korea and Japan in 2023 for the same reason and has worn a "spouse ring" since 2019.  The couple have been "engaged" since 2021 but there is no sign whatsoever that they were married.

Fortunately I don't have to deal with marriage so I'm completely unaware of what the modern version is like.  Nor do I know what perks rich elites get from it.   But it's slowly starting to come out how they actually treat marriage and whatever it is, it's not healthy.  AOC pretending to be married when it's convenient.  The New York judge who listed herself as married to her father.  Bill and Hillary obviously are married only in the legal sense.  That probably applies to Nancy Pelosi as a way to funnel investment guidance.  With both the Clintons and the Bidens, possibly even the Obamas, there's a hint that the wives are in charge and the husbands have to do the work and take the blame.

There's more to it than that and I haven't even gotten to the adultery but they've clearly enjoyed that for decades.  Meanwhile normal people are staying away from the whole thing, leading to old women wishing they had made a different choice and men being able to focus on what they're really interested in.  It's going to be very difficult and time-consuming to move this back to a moral goal but there are hints that this has started.  "One man, one woman, 'til death do us part" works best.  Meanwhile we'll learn about all the corruption from the leftist way of doing things.

Are any of these depositions going to be broadcast live?  Probably not, they will all be done in private so they can pass their code words back and forth with no danger of being exposed.  Maybe they can fill the meetings with orgies and laughter about what they'll do next to the peons.  Nobody's going to go to jail for anything.  Heck, maybe none of these people will even show up.  It's not like the law applies to them.

It's nice that this starts fairly soon but the long break in September seems odd.  Then there's Bill and Hillary waiting for the end.  I guess there's a certain amount of drama for that, which Trump always goes for.  By the way, this is about Epstein.  Not Russiagate or Hillary's emails or the rest of it?  Most of these people had their highest rank under Obama so this is also a way of circling him without actually aiming at him directly.

I guess I'm very mildly cautiously optimistic that this might go somewhere.  No reason to think they couldn't have done this months ago, or five years ago.  *Maybe* those hidden files which were discovered weren't the turning point so much as the last step.  The administration was aware that the proof still existed, they had loads of evidence leading up to it and finally uncovered it.  I don't recall the date it was announced but I never believed that it was brand new.  Whatever it is, I suspect they had found it months earlier - or Trump's first term, I'm going to keep repeating that - and waited to make it public.

Otherwise it's not clear what these people will do.  They'd just look stupid fighting it in public although some might try anyway.  Most of them are probably quite old.  Mueller in particular was reportedly not capable of investigating Trump, he was just installed by the Biden administration.  They may turn against each other.  I'm trying to think of possibilities but it doesn't seem worth it, everything important will be kept hidden.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.  Haven't found any reason why they gave up but it's going to show their party that this wasn't a good idea, so others will probably start to follow.  The state Attorney General has announced that he will file to vacate their seats on Friday if they don't return to congress by then.  No idea how many will comply but I assume at least a few more will.

The FBI has been formally asked to track these cowardly politicians down to arrest them.  As much as I support this, keep in mind that we are crossing a line that can't be undone here.  It's not something you can pick-and-choose which ones get arrested unless full evidence is publicly released.  'This one brings in the slaves across the border, here's the footage.'  It's all or nothing.

I also don't get what point this is supposed to make about gerrymandering even though they're clearly going after that.  Perhaps it's because skin color is a major component of remaking every district to guarantee the winner.  Democrats always need racial preferences to get anything done.

□ [“Trump Threatens to Federalize DC Over Out-of-Control Crime"]

DC spent most of its existence being run by Congress according to the Constitution but they gave that up in 1973.  They've stayed Democrat though which is why the crime rate is so high.  Well, I'm sure the rest of the uniparty helps but you get the point.  And here Trump is getting involved again.

As the chief executive, of course he has authority to order someone in the executive branch to do things like this.  But from our perspective, it's all on him, so this just seems like yet-another huge task.  He's always active and productive but there comes a point where he needs to actually bring some of his projects to completion before starting new ones.  Or even making noise about it.  I'm probably right about that but it's also part of his nature and if you get rid of that, you'd get rid of what he actually accomplishes.

It's not clear where he'd get the authority to intervene.  In other states and cities, he'd have some authority, as we've seen with California a few months ago, but DC is different for that reason.  Having a slight majority in Congress probably wouldn't be enough to make it happen.  On the other hand, he would probably have law enforcement authority.  It might also be interesting to see how many of these DC criminals are connected to federal employees.
