□ [“AOC Lashes Out in Phone Call with NYT Regarding Coverage of Her Embarrassing Munich Gaffes"]

I don't think her gaffes were all that bad.  Referring to Venezuela as "south of the equator" is simply an honest mistake.  You can blame her for not checking a map before making the comment but it's South America so it's a natural assumption.  Her other gaffes were stupid but nothing to make much of a fuss over.

She claimed that cowboys didn't come from Spain but it's a bit of a stretch to think she was referring to horses, who were indeed brought to the New World by the man whose surname she illegally stole.  If she had gone into more detail, she would have obviously had no clue what she was talking about but the actual comment was no big deal.  She was also asked if the US should defend Taiwan from China and her answer was complete gibberish.  Not just inability to finish a sentence, it was inability to even start a sentence but insisting on talking anyway.  It's fine to criticize her for that but it's also not that horrendous.  Even actual leaders can have that problem and she's certainly not one of those, although she's trying to play one on television.

The real problem would be her reaction to criticism from her own side, i.e. the New York Times.  If she can't take it from her own people, she's not going to do very well in the bigger world.  And that might be the real damage from attention this world conference she had no business taking part in.  Screwing up is one thing, not being able to recover from criticism about it is worse and shows these elites that she's not going to be very helpful.  Makes me wonder if she was brought there by Hillary Clinton for that reason, to set her up for failure.

□ [“Colorado Democrats Introduce Bill to Fully Decriminalize Prostitution"]

As always, the left needs to control people, although I wonder if they're just planning to tax the whores.  My first reaction was of all the decades demanding pot be legalized and recently even some leftists are saying it's a bad drug.  With banning hunting, I assume it's about an excuse to oppose people with guns, maybe also about getting more Democrat voters.

Given what they've been up to for the last year, I think it's clear that they really believe - beyond all reason - that now is the time they can get away with imposing leftism on the masses.  With hunting and fishing, they really have no clue how the number of animals will grow too big without it, not to mention the danger of bigger animals going after humans.  With prostitution, they ignore that it's always going to exist so just stay out of it, especially government.

They're going to be pushing more stupid laws, as are other blue states.  They probably expect most of them to fail for some reason but any success will get them further to total control.

□ [“Colbert Dumps Dem Interview Rather Than Follow FCC Rule and Provide Equal Time to Republicans"]

I suspect the Trump administration was making a few points about this.  First, the left will ignore whatever points they're making to suddenly become obsessed with 'tyranny' and then go back to ignoring whatever they claimed to support.  Second, they were showing how much control the FCC has over tv networks and mass media.  What the government gives, it can take away and leftists are the ones insisting the government must have such influence on tv shows in the first place.  Just because Trump is the only one getting attention for interference doesn't mean he's the only one interfering.

Third, they're also making a point about giving free ads to politicians you support.  I'm not sure the administration has any opinion on which way these rules should go but there are rules on whether or not you're a 'news show' reporting the truth.  Giving free ads like this is not 'fair and balanced.'  Then there's also the pleasure of tying tv networks down, wasting this money on shows no one watches.

I had to erase several comments here because I wrote them about the wrong person.  I don't even know who these rich celebrities are, that's how irrelevant they are to me and, based on their ratings, everyone else.  I suspect that, among the elite, tv networks like ABC and CBS are still very relevant, although to anyone else who watches tv, they're just a couple channels among dozens or hundreds.  There's just not enough viewership to make them valuable and these shows have done their part to destroy the concept of 'entertainment.'
