In a 'broken clock is right twice a day' sense, he deserves credit for pointing this out.  Yes it's ridiculously obvious to most people but that's the point, Democrats have no appeal for most people.  Newsome points out that most people care less about your pronouns or identity politics than basic economic issues.  That is very true.  The problem is he still needs to appeal to those who run the Democrat Party and they focus on identity politics.  Rejecting that is not going to help him get through the primaries unless they've already got some other plans ready and that's still two years away.

Newsom is damaging his own image, making a speech to non-whites and saying "I'm like you" in a reference to how low his SAT score was and that he can't read a speech.  He's made similar comments to white audiences and it's been noted that he spoke to them at a normal rate of speech.  He slowed down for the non-whites.  Jus' saying is all...

People online started sending in comments and questions about this, his staff just rejected them with swear words.  I assume they're all taking guidance from him and he's acting like someone who's never been challenged before.  Or at least much less than any normal person has.  He's rich and white so he knows how to handle Democrats.  And non-whites for that matter.  This will be thrown at him for a while but probably won't cause any problems.

He'll find other problems for himself to cause.  He just set a serial child-rapist free, that'll do it.  And he was talking about being San Francisco mayor and mentioned his predecessor, “for those who don’t know Willie Brown, you wouldn’t know Kamala Harris without Willie Brown.”  Oh snap!

As I write this, it's probably already started, or it will soon.  From what I've heard, the *woke* are avoiding it, the others will be expected to behave like decent people, stand and applaud, all that stuff.  The previews were given, the top four from each party have been briefed.  It sounds like this speech will mostly be about the economy.  That's always important but the rest of us do have some questions we would like answered.

I never expect to listen to this.  (checks)  Yes it's almost starting.  I'm really not interested in speeches and literally have no clue how many SOTU's I've ever listened to, in part in or in full.  I do have a slight curiosity how the uniparty will react when Trump gets started but that's about it.  If he's boring, I'll probably turn it off.

Democrats have several different responses planned which is just stupid.  At least one official response on-site comes off as professional, splitting it up like that just says the party can't even agree on how they hate Trump.  Or worse, they all say the same thing.  I'm just not a fan of this official speech.  I probably say it every year but Trump should just tweet the report and go back to work.

The entries are slow but everyone is standing, everyone claps.  Melania gets a lot of approval.  I will admit some curiosity on what these people are saying as they walk by and shake hands, sending out a short message to each other.  Much as I don't enjoy this, I will admit the suspense is entertaining.  When will he show up?  What will happen?  Everybody is smiling.  I'm sure they have a lot of practice at pretending they're glad to be here but it looks legitimate.  I also recognize very few people, much less know what party each of them are in, so it looks like normal interaction.

Tons of applause when Trump comes in, don't hear any boos.  Who are these people holding up their phones to get pix with him?  When he finally gets to the podium it does look like they're going to be doing a lot of applauding.  He starts off with talking about the 4th of July, then talking about how great everything he's done is.  There probably won't be much in the way of details which we'd really like to hear.

Applause after every statement.  He brings in the Olympic gold-medal US men's hockey team.  I want to see if Nancy Pelosi is chanting "USA!" like the others.  He gives out some awards, then attacks Democrats for wanting higher taxes instead of the cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill.  I'm guessing Democrats aren't applauding but I don't hear any boos.  He also attacks them for illegal immigration and inflation.  He also says he's going after health care expenses.

Some female voice in back is yelling but I can't tell what she's saying.  Al Green is kicked out again, haven't looked up why.  He's also has a bill to keep Congress from profiting and singles out Nancy Pelosi.  Then he talks about Minnesota and the "war on fraud."  When I do check the video, Democrats are not applauding.  He calls out a non-white little girl nearly killed by an illegal immigrant, no clue if Democrats applaud for her.  He tells them to stand up if they support protecting Americans from illegal aliens, guess which side doesn't stand up.  They just keep applauding and Democrats stay seated.

He brings up trans-genders and calls them out for imposing this agenda.  Someone calls out "pedophile."  He calls out Charlie Kirk, didn't see if any Democrats stood up but they did when he said 'political violence is wrong.'  Then he brings up the Ukrainian girl stabbed on the train.  He says her killer was an illegal alien, that doesn't sound correct.  Of course Democrats will not stand here either.  That brings him to sending the National Guard to fight crime.

I'm on the Washington Post youtube page, mostly listening.  When I do check, they often seem to skip any long-shots of applause so there's no way to know if Democrats are involved.  Sometimes there's a shot and sometimes a few Democrats are standing to applaud someone.  I wonder what internal conflict they're having, keeping track of each other.  Whoever was calling out - Ilhan Omar? - seems to have gone quiet, or been taken out.

Calls out Marco Rubio, some Democrats applaud while seated.  Trump covers some of the wars and gives a medal honor to a CW5 flying the helicopter on the Maduro raid.  Everybody stands although *some* people aren't applauding.  There's also a 100-year old Navy pilot who gets a medal of honor.  Trump suggests that his mission had been kept secret for decades, so perhaps this is classified information that's finally being released.  'Holy sh*t, he did this???  Declassify this so I can give him a medal before he dies!'

With this, he starts the outgoing words, citing our 250th anniversary and what God has given us.  He ends the speech, Democrats get up and rush out.  The camera follows him out, it's why I could never be a politician.  He's shaking hands, taking pics and giving autographs.  And it's over.  I really didn't expect to be listening to the whole thing.  He hit some things hard, now we'll see what the result is.

Trump's not a great speaker but I guess he sounded good.  It's a formal speech so he can't really grab an audience, it doesn't help that half the audience wants to be grabbed.  I don't know why they can't just save their applause for the end but that gets tedious.  But I'm not the target audience.  At least this is over for another year.

I suppose it's as good a place to start as any but they're not going to limit themselves to insurance, are they?  Given the last few months of buildup over Minnesota, and that's just limited to Somali fraud, you'd think they'd be sending people out to every office in every branch in every state.  And to each city if they have enough officials.

The media has gone completely quiet on this scandal, probably because of how big it is.  They probably need to protect the blue states and cities that run through a lot of money.  Got to keep the public ignorant of what their rulers are doing.  As always, I try to think the Trump administration has an actual plan for what they're doing but we're really tired of waiting.

And for that matter, why aren't the states and cities doing something about it now?  Unless there's some regulation the rest of us would never know, they can certainly start that now, if not six months ago.  You'd think they'd all realize they aren't going to get away with hiding this, given how much has already been made public, and yet that's what they've been doing and getting away with so why stop now?  We also have to wonder what's being maintained with funneling all this money, and what has been cut off.  Any day, there might be some huge collapse of some institution and then the rest will fall like dominoes.

It's starting to look like Europe is more devoted to Epstein than we realized.  Some high names are in trouble now.  But his lawyer insists this wasn't a suicide attempt, no, it was just medical problems.  Sure.  This might be a sign that something is finally being done and moving it's way up the line.  Hasn't reached the US much but there's a sign that it's starting here.

Hollywood.  A number of news stories like this have come out recently.  Some times they reportedly die from drugs but whatever the cause, they were born to rich and famous people and closely-connected to others.  With these elites, there are many social layers so it's not clear that she was Epstein's buddy or anything like that but they would certainly know someone who knew someone who was.  With everything else these people are into, they would have any number of other reasons to rush to death before getting caught.

The problem is that nobody's here is being punished and there's no reason to think they will be.  The investigation has suddenly started for his New Mexico home, like there's anything left to find after all these years.  This is just disappointing, even if anything is found there's no reason anyone would believe it.  There must have been a better way to handle this.
