The headline is wrong, he's not defying the Supreme Court.  He's just citing already-existing laws which have been mentioned for the last day or so.  At a guess, I'm assuming he has the authority to raise tariffs on everyone, not specific countries, except for national security issues and things like that.  I also heard - can't recall where - that these tariffs are limited to 150 days, or some short period of time.

It sounds like the former will cause some chaos around the world, the latter is a bit more iffy.  Those that have been hit with tariffs already can probably get through them for another few months, it's everyone else who suddenly has to deal with them.  So our allies would possibly be hit worse than our enemies.  International politics being what it is, this may have already been worked out with everybody in advance but it doesn't look like a good move.

We'll also see how the left responds and not just with hysteria.  I suspect that a lot of international deals have adjusting prices in a certain way to accommodate the right people.  It's those people who might be hit the hardest by this.  After getting through DOGE and the last year of Trump 2.0, they might not be able to handle more shocks.  They may be desperate and fall into a trap.

It's not clear if this is just hype or if there's something expected to happen, either at the SOTU or afterwards.  The impression, accurate or otherwise, is that the party has broken into pieces so everyone is trying to go their own way.  There's three different response speeches announced, one of them for a Spanish audience because I guess the others wouldn't have translators.  Others will be out at rallies or something like that.

Now those who will be there are being told not to heckle.  I don't see any specific names giving this order, suggesting either it's not real or that they plan to disobey.  It's not clear what kind of tyrant permits anyone to heckle but there's Trump for you.  I will continue to assume the party has a specific leadership planning all this but it doesn't look promising.

Iran and tariffs will probably be the main topics for the speech.  Maybe Epstein but it's not like Trump has said much about that for the last year.  I have to wonder how much Trump will even prepare, he doesn't strike me as someone who practices a speech in advance.  Or even has a speech, they might just list the points on a teleprompter and erase each one as he gets around to it.  I've covered the last year extensively but it's been so hectic, I can barely remember anything that happened.  But I don't have a memory, what's your excuse?

Things like this are going to keep happening.  The state admits that it can't stop them from working with ICE, only that it can't be a "formal agreement."  If they left that hole in the new law, I'm guessing they weren't stupid enough to really go after everything.  It's more for public consumption than a real regulation.  Don't know if it's likely but it's possible even the Democrat politicians were embarrassed that they had to do this.  They even admitted that federal law has to be followed.

Some of the bonds connecting society are breaking, others are being reinforced precisely to avoid these problems.  It's not clear which but a lot of the bonds go back so far that nobody even remembers how they came into existence.  This is a basic example, law enforcement as it deals with city, county, state and federal laws.  I'm not sure anyone has a good explanation of how they can best interact but many people have worked on this for many years and those that are based on reality have a better chance of lasting.

It's a sign that things are moving the right way, that civilization can overcome the chaos.  Those that pushed to destroy it, thinking they could restart on 'year zero,' won't survive but hopefully the rest of the people can.  Not saying it'll be fun or that anything can last forever but at least there's a chance to avoid the wreckage we've seen all our lives.

The left keeps showing how they cannot even comply with their own stated beliefs.  He promised free stuff and is already trying to raise taxes.  He can't handle cleanup from a snowstorm and now he opposes ID rules for voters but will impose them on temporary city employees.  He hasn't even been there for two months and can't handle it.  At least global warming will get rid of the snow sooner or later, it won't help his hypocrisy.

The other problem is that the left is revealing what they actually believe.  In this case, the guy is showing how you make new gay kids, since sex with women isn't an option.  We also see this with Democrats promising tyranny as soon as they regain power.  And there's finally enough billionaires now for megarich leftists to be jealous of people who have more money than them so they're all ranting about going after billionaires.

I think they're also revealing more than they expected about their own connections.  We're starting to see this with the Epstein lists but this one stuck out for me.  Susan Rice was always in the background when Obama was POTUS.  She was also listed in the Epstein files - as far as I know, not for anything big - and she just made a speech about how the government will be weaponized against anyone who disagrees with Democrats the next time they're in charge.

And here she is crying.  More importantly, Obama is crying too, in front of people.  He was never known as the most masculine of men but this is not a good look.  She's not your wife so what are you doing?  Obama was supposed to be a leader, this is not how they're supposed to behave.  But apparently this is on "Obama Foundation" footage now located at Columbia University.  This just comes off as Obama's boss was crying so he subordinated and cried along with her, begging the question of who was really in charge.

She had high-ranking positions for Clinton and Obama from beginning-to-end of both their two-term Presidencies, think-tanks and media Board of Directors in-between.  Her parents were black but quite wealthy and part of DC for a long time.  And also worked for Biden for at least three years.  Married to an ABC news producer, she's just deeply in the system she wants to control.  I'm not saying Obama was a total pawn but how far was he ever out of her grasp?
