□ [“'No More Political Bulls**t!' James Hetfield Blasts Entertainers Who Push Their Agendas in Concerts"]

Never a big Metallica fan but MTV played videos from the Black Album constantly so I've been aware of them for most of my life.  I'm probably more interested in them from their comments about touring with Guns'n'Roses and how it taught them what not to do.  Well, they've remained popular ever since and are still putting out successful albums and tours so they must be doing something right.  This is an example of why.

Hetfield is very direct about his point, the customers are the ones who spent time and money to be here for Metallica so the band owes them the best possible experience and political lectures aren't it.  He gives no names but he also refers to performers who refuse to accept that.  I think this is another example of cracks growing in the wall, the fact that they're publicly saying this.  People keep citing Mick Jagger making a similar comment a while ago but I find that a bit annoying, he had started off on an anti-Trump lecture on-stage and realized the audience wasn't into that.  Good for him that he quickly reversed position but how did he not see that coming?

Anyway those in the 'entertainment industry' who think politics is entertainment are finding the tides have changed.  Even worse, most of them are following the rich and famous old people like Springsteen or Neil Young who can relax on their wealth.  The new acts are going to realize that they have nowhere to go because they have no listenable music to fall back on and will easily be replaced by A.I.  I haven't looked into it but I've heard rap concerts are suddenly selling zero tickets and the speculation is their audience was all funded by USAID.  I'll wait to hear more about that but it's a very interesting possibility.

At least live musicians have at least a slight connection to their audience.  Springsteen isn't likely to see a large part of his audience wearing MAGA t-shirts - although that would be hilarious - but the awareness would still be there at some level.  Hollywood is far more isolated so it'll be a while before most of them get any sense they've headed the wrong direction.  Hopefully they won't realize it until after they've gone off the cliff.

After writing the above, I saw an article about Saturday Night Live having some issue.  A cast-member wasn't completely *woke* and was fired but is now popular enough that he hosted last weekend's episode.  I'm not remotely interested in this and won't bother checking to see if I got these details right but if they are, it's another example of Hollywood dealing with the tides changing.

□ [“Elizabeth Warren Frets About Trump and the Midterms ‘I Worry About Election Interference’"]

This just comes off as total projection.  She has no problem with people without ID voting or boxes of ballots suddenly showing up that all go for one candidate.  So it sounds like the "interference" is by not letting Democrats run things the way they want, which magically always wins elections for them and never for anyone else.  A sensible person would see this is why voter ID is a good thing but not her.

It may all be anecdotal but there's an increasing number of stories about Democrat candidates just acting bonkers.  Right now I'm looking at an Indiana Democrat who babbles about how she'll fire all Republicans and get everyone else $10,000 a year from data companies, justified with "we have guns too."  There are others who say similar incoherent things, along with those who are rushing off to NYC or L.A. to get more funding from the rich people they claim to oppose.

It's very anecdotal but there's also reports that early votes have started coming in.  Usually Democrats win big on these.  They still are but not nearly as much as usual and it's already going down from there.  The illegals can't vote, the dead or nonexistent people can't vote, that's already got to hurt them.  Real voters are more likely to think they don't want what this party is selling so either they'll sit it out or out-right vote for someone else.

Still way too early to be confident but it increasingly looks like Democrats' main voting blocks are gone or just fed up with the party's *woke* agenda.  I'm curious if Warren actually knows this is and is out there lying, trying to keep things going, or if she's staying in her elite 'safe spaces' and has no clue what the public actually thinks.  Probably the latter, that's how she got this far and it's why her party is failing.

This is why I'm basically fine with the US as 'world policeman.'  There's many ways it can go wrong of course but I think America is best-suited for the job.  'If you're peaceful, do whatever you want.  If you're not, we'll slap you down.'  In the modern world, if we don't do it, someone else will.  It also proves what's wrong with globalism because if they had any sense, globalists would be the most pro-American people in the world precisely because they'd get to impose their will on everyone.  Instead they want to destroy it.  Even the military-industrial complex is based on the need for building, profit and growth, something to work with.

I think Iran is desperately trying to hold things together long enough to help Democrats regain power and that's what's hurting both sides.  The left doesn't know any better, they're just taking orders.  But Iran keeps facing every new day without a government, a military or an economy.  There's no doubt the people are going to overthrow the mullahs, it's just a matter of when.  I'd like it to happen before the mid-terms but then, I also wanted it before July 4, and back in April for that matter.  So it'll happen when it happens.

But that's something Trump is showing with the Houthis here.  We have air control.  When Persians finally take to the streets and rebel, the mullahs and IRGC will send armed forces to wipe them out and we'll be right there to hit them first.  They have nothing else to work with and clearly aren't getting any real help from China or Russia.  They only have their Muslim courage and to be fair, that's probably why they've lasted this long.  But time is almost out.

□ [“WTF Has James Gunn Done With Man Of Tomorrow?"]

Nothing about this sounds like it's going to appeal to anybody.  Quite the opposite, they're doubling down on all the material that is driving everyone away from superhero movies.  Comic book fans are used to this but it's still interesting to watch a much-bigger franchise ruin itself.  Expensive actors and special effects-driven stories that are supposed to interconnect with each other yet never gave anybody a reason to care.  It doesn't help that this always comes down to 'men in tights who solve problems by punching people.'

You could at least create new corporate IPs.  Most of the characters in this movie were created before my father was born, only Guy Gardner and John Stewart were created when he was an adult and they're still older than me.  Miss Tessmacher looks like the only major IP created in my lifetime, the first Superman movie, when I was two years old.  Whatever merits these characters had in comics, the movies have drained them of anything a modern audience might want to watch.

Marvel's basically in the same condition.  They've got a new Avengers movie coming out in a couple months and nobody seems remotely interested.  The recent re-release of Endgame did decent box office for what it was but the point was to connect people to the new movie, meaning the last seven years were irrelevant.  I'm beginning to suspect that Hollywood and the entertainment industry has figured out how to make a part of the audience into puppets, they're the ones who showed up for Endgame redux, but that doesn't turn into success for anything else.

I can't say these movies will bomb.  I suspect enough people are interested that they'll at least do ok.  I will probably see Avengers out of curiosity.  But then I've said that about several movies in the last few years and still haven't seen any of them.  I'm really getting the impression that people don't care anymore, they're checked out, it's over.  And that's without Hollywood promoting the *woke* agenda.  If they try that again, movie theaters will quickly go bankrupt.
