□ [“Syria’s Toppled Ruler Assad and His Family Arrive in Moscow – Russia Grants Them Asylum"]
I was not expecting to see this when I woke up this morning. It was March 24, 2013 when Obama insisted "Assad must go" and it's finally happened. Before that, Hillary, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and other members of Congress had been flying over to see Assad because they liked him. Hillary called him a "reformer" in 2009, Kerry called him "my dear friend" in 2011. Obama even opened a Syrian embassy. It was only later that they changed their minds for some reason.
Obama had to draw a "red line" on Syria regarding the use of chemical weapons, which Assad did against the rebellion on numerous occasions. Eventually Obama had to act like he took that seriously, but he didn't. He wanted the UN to do something. They wouldn't. He tried to get other nations to take part, they wouldn't if the US wasn't doing all the real work. He wanted Congress to vote on him doing something. They didn't. They promised the attack on Syria would be "unbelievably small," like that's going to encourage anybody to help. Finally Kerry suggested Russia might be willing to help and Russia was right there and ready to help, what a surprise.
Obama had been played and I'm not sure he even realized it. He had always voted "present" and tried to keep doing that here, this is what it led to. Assad declared this a victory. The world saw that the US couldn't carry out its own policies, losing credibility. Russia would attack Ukraine soon afterwards, see how that worked out.
I've been skimming through what I wrote about these events back then, and I had covered them a lot more than I remembered. Ten years ago today, I wrote:
Obama’s strategy for Syria is collapsing, mostly because it’s about finding the path of least political resistance. The results don’t matter to him, he wants to find rebel groups who can be relied on to fight ISIS but won’t turn against the West later. Once these rebels are found, they’ll be moved to other countries for training and returned to Syria with equipment. The Pentagon estimates that at least 15,000 fighters will be needed and the process could take up to a year.
Congress approved of this two months ago. It hasn’t been started yet. So viable rebel options are dwindling in numbers as ISIS expands and Assad cuts down opponents. American officials haven’t even met with Syrian opposition leaders, needed to start vetting the rebel groups, and no one knows how we’re supposed to vet them anyway.
Not a great comment, but I was surprised at how much I'd already written on the subject. As I write this, I haven't even scanned past November 2015, hopefully I get back to at later. Of course it gets very complicated as soon as you start looking at this in-depth, there's Iran, Israel, Hezbollah, al-Qaida, ISIS and Turkey, just to name some of the neighbors. Then there's the way Syria has been funneling drugs, weapons and slaves around the world. Haven't figured out to whom yet, I'm just scanning, but that seems very relevant to today's events.
Then there's the fact that the rebellion in Syria seems to have started in 2011, wasn't that when we started bombing Libya? The "Arab Spring" was once a thing, and Libya's Kaddafi [sp?] was as free to ignore the US attacks as Assad has been since then. We were also using these two countries as a way to move weapons to the rebels, although I don't think we've heard anything about that since Bengazi. It's all connected.
□ [“Israeli Air Force Launches Widespread Strikes Across Syria, Targeting Weaponry at Key Military Sites"]
Israel wasn't prepared for October 7, they never expected anything like that to happen, but their air force was ready to strike multiple targets in Syria as soon as Assad decides to quit? That seems a wee-bit unlikely.
I'm not sure what it means that Russia is fine with Assad leaving. Are they keeping their assets in Syria or have they finished whatever they were trying to do there? I can't tell if they see this as a defeat for their side or if it was always part of the plan or just something that happens to a tyrannical ally, not the first and won't be the last.
I would like to think Trump is behind this, which would explain the timing, but it still doesn't make any sense. Is he actually opposed to whatever Russia was doing or is this just a show they're putting on for the masses. Things are a little clearer now but we still don't have much of a sense which side anyone is on. They're all fully capable of putting out false narratives for some reason.
□ [“Trump Calls for Immediate Ceasefire and Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia to ‘End the Madness’"]
I can't believe I'm saying it, but this won't help. Trump's on a roll, he's going to do that, but there's no way this looks good for anybody. Even if Russia and Ukraine immediately agree to peace under Trump's terms, it just looks like a show. And if they don't, then it's pointless, because Ukraine has long since lost. They can stop being beaten any time, but they have to quit, which means giving up turf and never joining NATO. Until they agree to that, the beatings will continue.
I don't see what Trump could do about that. For that matter, although I'd like to think he's responsible, you can make the argument that he had nothing to do with Assad fleeing Syria. You could argue that he did, but we just don't know.

□ [“Trump Asked About Separating Families During Mass Deportations of Illegal Aliens"]
“Well, I don’t want to be breaking up families, so the only way that you don’t break up the family is you keep them together and you have to send them all back.”
I'm fine with that, but how will it work? His Border Czar said the same thing recently so it sounds like an official policy. I'm not that optimistic about but I hope I'm wrong. Let's give it a try. He also plans to get rid of the "anchor baby" concept, good luck with that.
Trump gave this answer on an NBC interview with a leftist female. He said a number of amusing things, although little else worth noting. Not sure if this is his first big interview since the election, but he's out there being Donald Trump. I don't feel sorry for the chick doing the interview but I'm wondering how that happened. She's paid to go out and promote leftism, how's she supposed to do that when interviewing a man who won't put up with that crap anymore?
And why doesn't Harris do that? The only chance she has of continuing her career - besides paying off the debt - is if she goes out and shows what it's like to talking to someone who doesn't tell her what she wants to hear. She could be doing interviews like that every day, show the voters what they're missing. She's still reasonably young, it's not like she can just sit and do nothing for the next several decades until she dies. Look at Trump, he just got back from France and now he's doing this.

□ [“Jay-Z Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old Girl With Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at Drug-Fueled Afterparty"]
I'm sure celebrities are worried but when is this going to start moving forward? His trial is sometime next year, there's no reason to think Diddy will last that long. Reportedly he's in a "low security" prison, how convenient.
They need to start naming others who were involved. Ok, Jay-Z. These two both knew a lot of people so we can speculate they were involved too, but start putting this stuff out there. Who was at the parties? What were they doing there? What other parties like that were going on for the same reasons? It's not going to be enough to just have more accusers come out about assaults that happen a long time ago. It's not like Diddy and all his allies would just suddenly stop doing this, so what changed?
□ [“P. Diddy Sacrificed a Bird Before Nightclub Shooting Verdict, Says Former Body Guard"]
This is at least a hint, behavior like a witch cult. This incident was from 1999, so it's another one that's long gone. But it does indicate that this is the sort of belief that went on with Diddy and his people. As time passed and they got richer and more famous, so did the sacrifices, which meant they had to be kept more private. This is probably why a lot of celebrities have decided to go silent, at least about politics, because they were giving out details that would only be recognized by those 'in the know,' like they're praying for Trump to get shot or something.
We're on the verge of a blow-out for a lot of famous people and it would be a very nice Christmas gift to get that started soon.
