I'd like to find the guy who wrote the song that made my baby fall in love with him.

Dunno how much I have to say at the moment.  I finally finished the new book today and am waiting for the final approval to publish.  I'm also getting closer to finishing the first very long step on my history project.  So that's been my focus for most of the day, I don't know what else there is to talk about.

Joe Biden Promises to Create a Million New Good-Paying Jobs That He’s Never Created in 47 Years in Office

Well he can't create any jobs, he's never run a business.  He just gives orders to people who do.  One thing I've been noticing is the left's obsession with government.  They see that as the only relevant part of existance, well, at least when they're in charge of it.  They're outright offended by the idea of people doing things that has nothing to do with the government.  There's a quote from Lenin, I don't remember the specifics, but it's an order for the government he ran to measure and organize everything in existence.  That's what the left does now, more than ever as they've become upfront about wanting the nuclear family gone forever.  The government will own the children and control their lives, no one else.

They hate the government when they're not in charge but demand utter obedience when they are.

Well, this isn't really about Biden but like I said, I don't know what I have to say at the moment.

Biden's also going out of his way to avoid talking about stacking the supreme court, another things Democrats love because they want to do it but would oppose Trump doing.  Recently he said "You'll know my opinion on court packing when the election is over...  The moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that."

What kind of idiot is he to think that?  Pretending for the sake of argument that it's true, media would be informing their audience of what a Presidential candidate plans to do if elected which is exactly what they should be doing.  Of course that's not what they would do, they'd put it somewhere deep into the paper or late on the news show just to mention it in passing after going through all the other stuff going on today.  They aren't running stories of how Biden refuses to say what he'll do when he's in charge until after he's in charge which would also inform their audience.

BREAKING: White House Doctor Says Trump is No Longer a COVID Transmission Risk

And it's funny how this story has basically gone away.  I still have no idea whether any part of it is believable.  I'm not saying Trump made it up entirely to make him look awesome by running through a virus liberals claim to be petrified of - when they aren't out burning down buildings in crowds of maskless people - but I could believe that he did make it up for that reason.  I definitely don't think the virus is anywhere near the danger they wanted to pretend it is so it might just be a meaningless event.  I also notice that few people seem remotely concerned about how Melania is doing.

Pope pushes for end of private property and for global communism

I think this story's been out for a couple days but I'm just getting around to it.  I've been increasingly convinced for the past several years that the left has taken over the Catholic Church and nothing this guy is doing proves me wrong.

Texas Democrat Mayoral Candidate Zul Mohamed Arrested, Charged with 109 Counts For Mail-In Ballot Fraud Scheme

There's been a lot more stories lately of people (all Democrats, amazingly) trying to get fake votes and/or getting rid of real votes for their opponents, specifically Trump.  We do know that they aren't even going to pretend to go along with losing the election which would happen under any normal circumstances.  This guy stands out because he's obviously a Muslim and they know who's destined to win sooner or later.  They don't go along with abortion or gay marriage so in this generation or the next, they'll be running the Democrat party with sheer numbers and they know how elections work in their home countries.  They support God which will always win out, Democrats have nothing to do with that.

I've just realized we'll probably see a few days out if there's any chance of Biden winning.  Hillary had announced her victory celebration over a week earlier and cancelled it before Election Day.

Mike Pompeo Says He Has Hillary Clinton’s Deleted Emails and Will Begin Releasing Them Before Election Day

Will this get anywhere?  One gets the impression they're just killing time until it's too late to do anything about it.  Those of us with a Security Clearance know we'd be in big trouble if we did that, but we're peons.  Hillary skates free.

As usual, I'm doing nothing except working on the book.  I'm really hoping I can finish the latest one tonight, or at least this weekend.  I'm also getting close to finishing the first step of my "history project."  If I could really work on it, there's little doubt I'd be done in a week.  Alas, that's not how this year is going.

Pelosi Plotting to Remove Trump? Tells Press “Tomorrow We are Going to Be Talking About the 25th Amendment”

How strange, they're so positive Biden will win in a landslide, why waste time on this when they could be helping they claim are desperately in need?  Are they just trying to set up another weapon to use against Biden?

And Here It Is:  Joe Biden: “You’ll Know About my Opinion on Court Packing When the Election is Over”

They aren't remotely trying to win votes.  A sensible person would know that this won't get votes and may turn them away.  Even with his problems, Biden's too experienced to fall for that.  This is why I don't know for certain that Trump will win which would happen in a normal election.  Democrats aren't even pretending to be democratic, they'll put their views out when they feel like it and expect nothing but obedience.

Brian May & Friends - Star Fleet Project [Mini LP]

I knew I'd have to listen to this soon, so here we go.  It's an example of why Youtube has done more to ruin modern music than anything else and that takes some doing.  It was included on a bootleg CD I bought years ago so I'd heard it before.  As far as I know, Brian only released it as a Mini LP back in 1983 and included the three songs as b-sides on a couple of his singles in the 90s which I probably would have bought if I didn't already have the songs.  I was still tempted, but anyway...

It's just great playing.  That's really all there is.  "Star Fleet" was a Japanese cartoon and Brian decided to record a cover which is how the project started, ""Let Me Out" was a song he had written long before - it's unclear how long - and obviously Queen never thought it was worth doing.  Then there's "Blues Breaker" which is just a 12-minute jam.  It doesn't go anywhere but it's worth it if you like guitar rock'n'roll.  They dedicated it to Eric Clapton and reportedly he was not pleased by it.  Oh well...

I like the two actual songs the best.  "Let Me Out" is just fun and the title track stays in its lines for the most part, until the second half when they go all-out.  Neither of their bands were known for just playing around even though they were obviously capable of it.

Like a bridge over troubled water, I will keep you from getting wet. Unless you jump in, but that's on you.

CIA Memo: Brennan Briefed Obama on Hillary’s Alleged Plan to ‘Stir Up’ Trump Russia Scandal Before 2016 Election

This was about keeping attention away from her email?  We already knew she kept secret information on her unclassified server and sent it through nonclassified mail.  Everybody with a security clearance knows they'd go to jail if they did that and she knows the rules don't apply to her, but that's why they started this whole mess?  If this is true, it's mind-boggling that anybody would think she was qualified to be POTUS.  She's willing to start a fight with Russia just to keep the press from focusing on her actions?

Yes, we also knew Obama was involved in it.  That's been much of the problem, 'we can't criticize HIM.'

It's also not clear what the reaction is to Trump surviving the virus (assuming that was all real.)  I'm stealing a comment from Sarah Hoyt that I just saw, that people aren't going to live forever anyway and hiding under a bed doesn't help.  This is has all been an attempt by the left to control everyone.  They already control schools, entertainment, the media, but that's not enough for them.  At this point I'm wondering if the virus is their last scheme or if they've got something else ready if this doesn't work.

And, just to note, Richmond, Virginia was the capital of the Confederacy and they've only ever had two Republican mayors, one elected for two years in 1988 and one elected for two years in 1868.  They obviously knew what Democrats wanted and have kept doing it for all these decades.

Saudis To Palestinians: Stop Being Losers And Cut A Deal — Or Else; Update: “You Have Never Heard A Saudi Official Discuss It”

They've spent the last 80 years taking the losing side - Grand Mufti al-Husseini made sure his people were big fans of Hitler and "Mein Kamph"is still the most popular book there other than the Koran - and they haven't changed since.  It's possible they're the prime example for modern leftism, always take the wrong side and be willing to kill yourself on the chance you can take others out too.

Right now it's your tomorrow. Tomorrow it will be yesterday. I don't believe in yesterday.

So Eddie Van Halen died today at the age of 65.  Wasn't expecting that but maybe we should have been.  He'd been going downhill for years and mostly covered it up by not doing anything.  He didn't release any music, for Van Halen or anyone else, and even the few tours he'd done this century often got cancelled for health reasons.  I'm not actually complaining, it's probably better this way than to spend so much time in the public eye and a part of me does respect 'I've done enough' from aging artists.  Just yesterday I was listening to a bunch of Billy Joel who did the same thing and I sure as hell respect him.

But EVH never said so openly.  He always claimed to be working on more and then there were a dozen albums worth of material that just hadn't been released.  This is where I do lose respect for that kind of art, just put the work out and move on.

But of course EVH was so financially successful that he didn't have any need to do so.  I'm not sure how good that is for him but it sure doesn't help anyone else.  Even his last few tours and the only album released in this century seemed more about helping his son Wolfgang become famous - Wolf has been talking about his upcoming debut album for several years now - and little more.  And that was how the story ended.

Of course his guitar playing was beyond what anybody else could do.  I wasn't much of a Van Halen fan until the mid-late 90s.  I'd liked a few of the songs on MTV and that was it, but I paid attention to the hubbub of Sammy Hagar leaving and the reunion with David Lee Roth for an MTV event and decided to buy their Greatest Hits album.  The first track is "Eruption" and by the time that finished, I'd realized why EVH was such a legendary guitarist.  And it was just something EVH had jammed out during the recording sessions for the first album and the producer added it to the record.

There's no way to know, but I've always suspected that EVH really ran through most of his potential in the first several years of the band's recording.  They'd recorded 30 or so songs as demos for Gene Simmons when Kiss was thinking of adding them to their record label but when that didn't work out and they got a new contract, the producer just went with the best songs.  Then they picked the best of the remaining songs for their second album.  Then the third.  Of course the band had started coming up with new material but not a full album's worth.  It wasn't until Eddie's interest in the synthesizer was added that they suddenly had a new batch of classic Van Halen, "1984."

I've always wondered if the few other things he was doing around that time was what made all the difference.  He'd built a recording studio in his house so the other band members and staff had to come to him.  He'd played for Michael Jackson on "Beat It," a huge success that had nothing to do with the band or especially the obnoxious DLR.  Then there was his 1983 team-up with Queen's Brian May for "Star Fleet," a few jam sessions recorded in a day or two from two of the top guitarists of all time.  I've always suspected it was conversations around the playing that Brian suggested some changes which inspired Eddie.  Queen had been accused of overusing synthesizers right from the start but didn't actually use any until their eight album, "The Game," in 1980.  I suspect Brian told Eddie about that and that's where the incentive came from.

Anyway, this was where Roth and the band stopped getting along, he left and they replaced him with Sammy Hagar.  If the commercial success wasn't as big, it was still higher than almost any other band has ever had.  This was where EVH had basically run out of gas though, they grew further and further apart and released less music.  There were six albums with Roth in six years, then four with Sammy in ten.  Then there was "Van Halen III" with Gary Cherone singing and was a total failure, at least at the level they were working.  They reunited with Sammy for a tour and three songs added to their next greatest hits album, it ended miserably for them, they finally reunited with Roth for the last album, firing Michael Anthony as bassist and replacing him with Wolf, redoing a bunch of old material that hadn't been good enough for previous DLR albums.

I've always thought EVH was the star of the band, it's just not obvious because Roth was born to be the lead man in the early 80s.  He was great at what he did but it gets tiresome without a hot band on great songs and he was living in his own world even before they became famous.  When they were finally rid of him, they were tempted to change the band's name to "Van Hagar" just to get away from that.  Hagar was the front man but he knew how to work with a band and many great guitarists.  Sammy himself was quite good on guitar, nowhere near Eddie's level but a solid professional.  He had ways to work with Eddie that Roth had long-since lost if he ever had them but obviously found himself having to give in as the relationship continued.  Sammy even said recently that he expected Van Halen to still be doing things in the future.  Obviously that was either totally lying or just completely wrong.  They're over now.  Even if Alex Van Halen and Wolf pretend to keep going, it's not going to happen and it's not like they've done tried for the last several years.

So we're at another end of modern music, the loss of one of the most important people.  There's still Paul and Ringo, Mick and Keith, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, who else?  Diana Ross and Pete Townshend, but I'm not sure either of them made it to EVH's level (although obviously he was inspired by Townshend.)  Elton John and Billy Joel.  Maybe Guns'n'Roses and Aerosmith in their prime but that required the whole band and they've effectively been gone for years.  Ditto Simon and Garfunkel.  Yeah, you can argue a few others, U2, Sting, but it becomes questionable if they're at the top from their music or promotion of leftism.

Anyway, this is where we are now, losing everything that brought us where we are.  It makes you wanna sing 'Come on baby, finish what you started, I'm incomplete!  That ain't no way to treat the broken-hearted, I need some sympathy!'  Or whatever the kids are listening to these days.

Unhinged UMass Professor Ester Shapiro Caught on Video Calling Trump a Nazi and Child Molester — Then Belittles Student Who Disagrees

The left is really going nuts.  They can't behave like mentally-healthy people, probably by their nature, but until recently they were at least able to try.  Now they're not even doing that much and, oddly enough, don't accept the blame for their own behavior.  I'm still trying to figure out what makes them that way, if they were born like that or went that way because of others.

Sixth Grade Seattle Teacher Brendan Stanton Caught on Video Abusing a Student for Defending Trump — Then Lies to Parent About it

Under normal circumstances, I think they'd be not trying to openly coercing victims to obey without hesitation but, as we all know, 2020 isn't normal.  Part of me thinks this has long been in the works, that's what I'm trying to figure out as part of my history project, but I do have to wonder how much of this is just a reaction to Trump.  They're the ones to blame for their behavior, not him, but they can't see that.

Trump:  I’m Checking Out Of The Hospital At 6:30 And I Feel Better Than I Have In 20 Years

Then there's this.  I'm a little less suspicious of an assassination attempt but then I still wonder if this was all a publicity stunt, say he's sick and then have him better in a few days.  We already know that the virus isn't actually that deadly, the media has just been doing everything it can to hype it up and help the left.  It's also said - I haven't bothered to look into it - that coming out of the virus means you're now immune to it.  It's this sort of thing that makes me wonder if this wasn't all a plan.

I'm going to dream off until my dreams come true. What are you gonna do about it?

One thing I've noticed lately is that Aerosmith is basically done.  That's a shame, they've always been one of my favorite bands.  But drummer Joey Kramer was injured last year and hasn't been allowed to be in concerts since because apparently the band says he doesn't play up to their standards anymore, and yesterday I saw an interview (from August) with guitarist Brad Whitford who said he had no idea what the band was planning to do and didn't care.

That's two people basically out of the band after 50 years (49 for Whitford.)  Some bands can get away with changing members but one thing that's been awesome about Aerosmith is that they've had the same five guys since the start, except for a couple years in the early 1980s when Whitford and lead guitarist Joe fuckin' Perry left.  Ok, Perry and Steven Tyler are the only ones commonly known but the other three matter too.

Creatively they're gone but at least that's expected from old bands.  I was surprised to realize that they'd actually released three albums in the 21st Century, one of which was a bunch of blues covers and another was some bizarre mix of their past styles.  Joe Perry has released over a half-dozen albums in the same time.  My understanding is that at this point, none of them really like each other, but they all loved being in Aerosmith.  Now even that's not happening.

They started out like any other band, playing hard rock and earning a fanbase with concerts until the point that they had a genuine hit album.  Then another one.  Then the fame and drugs (mostly drugs) took their toll and they went downhill.  Perry and Whitford left and Aerosmith was basically past-tense as far as any success was concerned.  But they quit drugs (on and off) and got the two guitarists back and with record company help, they started making hits again.  Ostensibly returning to the top made them better people although I'm not really sure about that.

They were definitely given information that wouldn't be known to the public.  The 1993 video for "Amazing" basically showed the internet just as the Get a Grip album that year was the first major internet release.  They made a point of including young sexy chicks in their videos, promotion for their movie careers.  It mostly didn't work for them - I thought there was one but checking the internet says it was Angelina Jolie and a Rolling Stones video - but I suspect a lot of that goes on in Hollywood.  Tyler made sure his own daughter looked as sexy as possible in the videos.

Anyway, they're another example of people at the top being there for a long time.  As I said, they're one of my favorites, so it's kind of a shame that they just fall apart in the last couple decades.  Then again, who would have ever expected them to be around this long?  As Steven Tyler wrote back when he was a teenager, years before the band formed:
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord'll take you away

Weinstein Hit With Even More Rape And Sexual Assault Charges

It's been a long long time since we paid any attention to him, a month or two at least.

This is the sort of thing that makes me wonder if the whole virus thing has been a set-up by the left.  Granted they often ignore anything they previously said or did that's the opposite of what they're saying or doing now and assume everybody will believe them but I've assumed for a long time that sending everyone to nursing homes was deliberately to infect as many old, sick people as possible.  They're the most vulnerable and many marxists believe in taking the old out anyway.

I haven't read this, I'm just posting it to keep it in mind to read.  My reading ability is still quite low, at least by my standards.  I haven't done it for a few months, but a while ago I realized that the solution was to re-write the article and doing so helps out on the book.  I'm fine with taking other people's ideas but if I'm doing it with their words, I format it in a particular way.  I haven't been the best at giving credit, but I'm getting better and the point was to specify that 'I DIDN'T WRITE THIS.'

However, re-writing has a few benefits.  As I said, I'm able to understand it better and put more work into the book.  My writing is just more condensed than other people's so it's a good way of reducing space, not to mention the fact that I can eliminate whatever's in their essay that's irrelevant to whatever I'm trying to focus on.  And of course I can add stuff that I've written elsewhere or just include wherever my thoughts are going.

These days, my books are going a little slow.  I'm still writing every day, in case you haven't noticed, but I'm not putting any energy into preparing for the next one.  My 2020 has been as bad as everyone else's and I'm just low on enthusiasm.  It doesn't help that I'm almost done with my third book of the year but I'm having real problems getting the last few technical aspects finished.  A lot of my books have a lot of jokes, as essay headlines or humor in-between essays, and it's been very hard to come up with the last few dozen I need on this book.

I've known this was coming for years.  Not the hard part of writing humor but that at some point I'd run out of material I'd already written.  When I finish this book, the next couple will be current events, politics, history, stuff that doesn't need humor.  A few hundred pages of that stuff has already been written and obviously I'll keep writing more, but after that, I'll have to go through whatever old material I think is remotely worth keeping.  There is a lot of that, I could easily fill up several more books if that was all it took, but there's the problems with reading, doubled by the difficulty of reading my own handwriting, typing it all up, and none of that is relevant to the material being worth publication.

So my point is, I've known for a long time that at some point I'll be completely out of old material and won't be able to finish another book until I've written enough to fill the pages.  And how will I arrange the material, by subject matter as I've done so far or just put everything in chronological order?  These are the sort of things I think about.

Trump Headed to Walter Reed Medical Center, Was Given ‘Experimental Drug Cocktail’
If 2020 were a normal year, I wouldn't think anything of this.  But, well, it isn't so I'm not sure what to believe.

For starters, I'm dubious if Trump even has the virus.  It's basically all been media-driven to support the left.  Second, he's always been a germaphobe so even if he's not in the greatest shape, he'd always been pretty obsessed with things like this.  Third, I see no reason to automatically trust what either side does at this point for whatever reasons they give.  Trump wouldn't quit doing campaign events unless there's something more important to work on so this could just be an excuse.  By the same token, it's not like Democrats wouldn't make things up to stop him.

Which is my next point, Walter Reed would be the absolute last place to expect an assassination attempt which would make it the most-likely target to do just that.  What would they have to lose?

Biden Campaign in Panic Mode, Launches In-Person Canvassing One Month Before Election After Mocking Trump’s Ground Game
The media's doing everything they can to support him but I suspect that the polls they're taking internally show a completely different result.  Why else would he send his people out to get killed, exactly what he accused Trump of doing?
One of his campaign leaders, Andrew Bates, even said that just three days ago:
GOP canvasser:  Isn't Trump doing a phenomenal job helping the pandemic take lives and jobs while also fueling division and unrest?
Voter:  Get the fuck off my doorstep before you give me coronavirus.

Obviously he's just trying to promote the image that Biden is reversing on but that's how they roll.  They can openly be completely opposite of each other but we all know they have the same goals, total control.  Sure it diminishes the importance of anything they actually say but the peasants must obey without question.

Get Woke, Go Broke: Game 1 of 2020 NBA Finals Loses HALF of 2019’s Audience, According to Early Ratings
Maybe people are bored from all the sports they've watched in the last several months?  There's so many other things to do.

Besides, the sports arenas take care of themselves and advertisers will pay just as much money for small audiences as for big ones.  The players' mansions only need things like water service, electricity, ground maintenance, maids, taxes, those cost nothing, anybody could do them.

More seriously, I think the left is going all out on their lust for power.  My theory is that they would be much quieter if Hillary was President and it's not like she'd care.  She bought a mansion just to make it up for the press when she was President and had plenty of money for a huge Barbie dollhouse.  It would also keep out the bums so I assume she never sold it after losing.

Anyway, something about the Trump presidency made them crack open and stop even pretending to support the country or republic.  I think the build-up to this new Civil War has been coming for a long time (since the last one, really) but I also think there's more.  I'm not even talking about the human factor because I'm trying to figure out how it all works, but just the basic timeline.  Trump is one of the few Republican leaders who's old while most of the Democrat leaders are even older.  They all got started in the 60s and 70s, the Baby Boomer generation, and have no interest in not being in charge.  It's all they have to live for.

I do have to wonder if this just the sort of thing that happens every 50 years or so which leads to my next point, the latest generation has lived in a post-9/11 world and has no idea what life without the internet is like.  There's simply no precedent for such things.  They aren't capable of knowing what life was like for all the millennia before that and are too young to intellectually speculate on what it was like.  They don't even know where food comes from, much less how society is built, and their elders are fine with keeping them in such ignorance.

Another Black Democratic Representative Comes Out in Support For Trump
This is all anecdotal obviously, but Democrats really do need blacks to be as helpless as those born in the 21st Century.  They have no chance of winning an election without getting 90% of the black vote - which they've obviously done their best to keep but not by treating black voters as mature human beings.  As it is, Democrat policy is always changed to suck up to the target audience.  Biden himself points out that the black culture is far less diverse than hispanics and by his own admission, it was 2007 before he'd ever met a black guy who took showers and could be seen in public.  Bill Clinton pointed out that, just a few years earlier, Obama would have been their waiter.

Obviously the Democrat party is quite the same as it was a century or two ago, they just found a different way to keep blacks in their place.  And now some might be trying to escape.

Apparently there was a Presidential Debate last night.  Biden actually did show up and made it through the entire 90 minutes.  I never watch the debates because I'm not remotely interested and I notice that all the comments afterwards are totally biased, usually for whoever the favorite candidate is.  But not all of them, there's usually a few people who say they totally support one guy but he completely messed up in that debate.  One never knows if they're telling the truth or just lying about who they support.

I've also noticed - maybe this happens every time but since I don't pay enough attention, there's no way to remember and I'm not going to check - that the Biden supporters who say he won are also insisting he never do this again.  That's not how winning usually works.  Most people would love to see more footage of how horrible their enemies are, assuming their guy really won.

I don't know what I think.  I do like artists to stay productive but based on their last album, I really got the impression they had used up all the good stuff remaining.  Malcolm probably stopped recording riffs and ideas years before he died of dementia and I would assume Angus listened to everything and picked out the best of them to make Rock or Bust back in 2014.  I can understand that he wouldn't want to quit, couldn't bring in a new guitarist to replace his brother and the band's name would carry a lot of weight, but this may be trying to hard to keep something going that really doesn't need to be active anymore.

Of course if any band in the world still has fans that want more no matter what, it's probably AC-DC.  They've brought back the bass player Cliff Williams who's been with them since 1977 and the drummer Phil Rudd who was with them from 1975-1983 and 1994 to 2015.  So other than Malcolm and, obviously, Bon, this is the 'classic lineup.'

I don't know, I guess I'm glad they're working and that's about it.  Obviously I have no interest in seeing them in concert if that ever happens but I'm sure I'll buy the album because I've become an AC-DC fan in the last few years so why not?

Disney Will Lay Off 28,000 Employees As California Governor Refuses To Provide Reopening Guidelines
September 29, 2020

I looked up when the Presidential candidates were born.  Bob Dole was born July 22, 1923 and is the oldest candidate who's still alive.  Jimmy Carter was born August 1, 1924, Walter Mondale was born January 5, 1928 and Michael Dukakis was born November 3, 1933.  They are the only ones who have ever ran for President who are still alive now and older than Joe Biden now.  Bush Sr., John McCain and Ross Perot were born before Biden but they're dead.

Obama is obviously the youngest, born 13 years and four months after the second youngest, Al Gore.  I only went back to the first Nixon election but it's odd that not a single candidate was born in the 1950s and for some reason that doesn't seem likely to change in the future.  If we're still doing elections four years from now, I doubt anyone will have been in that decade.  I didn't check Veep candidates unless they ran for President later, but Kamala Harris was born even later than Obama.  Amusing to note that decade is being dropped.

What’s Wrong with Old Joe? — Biden Wakes Up, Looks Out Window and Calls a Lid for the Day
There has never been a candidate who makes so little effort to campaign.  Even Hillary met with small groups of rich people.  Sure, she stayed away from peons as much as possible but at least she told rich people what they wanted to hear.  But Biden isn't even pretending anymore.  The first debate is scheduled for tomorrow and I'm still not sure he's going to even show up.  If he does, I don't think it's likely there will be a second debate.

Biden's claim about attending historically Black Delaware State refuted by university
This is an instance where I definitely don't think it's a mental problem for him.  I think he knew full well that he was flat-out lying.

“I got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State — now, I don’t want to hear anything negative about Delaware State,” Mr. Biden told the audience, drawing laughter, as shown on
video. “They’re my folks.”

He knows his supporters aren't going to question him, he knows they'll believe whatever he tells them and no-one will complain that he's taking a black man's place to get to college, even when he didn't.  Maybe he pretended to be black which seems to be popular these days among liberals.  Blacks may not like it but they'll stay where they are, that's how Democrats want it.

Also in the news, Trump has received a third nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize.  We all know he has no chance of getting it but it's amazing how doing something that is closer to peace than all the decades of war before it is being so totally ignored by people who claimed for decades to want peace.

Democrat Colorado Secretary of State Mails Postcards to Illegals and Dead People Urging Them to Vote
September 27, 2020

I have assumed this is their plan.  There are probably other possibilities but this has been the main goal.  I've been suspecting for a long time that there are fewer Democrats than they've every been willing to admit because their target voters doesn't want to do anything, hence the promises that government will do everything.  Voting is handled by the counties and even the smallest state has too many counties to just fake a 500% increase in votes for one candidate so I think the idea has been to basically lock people up at home and make them mail the votes in so they can keep faking more and more.

I'd like to think that there are plans to catch these attempts in advance and make them public to show what Democrats are doing now but obviously there's no way to predict that, much less set my bets on it happening.

MOMENTUM TRUMP – THIS IS NOT EVEN A RACE – Trump with Over 240,000 Attendees at His Rallies to Biden’s 84(!) Since Labor Day!

The quantity is a given, nobody's wants to go see Democrats, but the reason I wanted to check this was just to get a record of how many times Biden actually went out to see anybody.  13 events since September 4th over 7 states + Washington DC.  Trump has had 24 events in 11 states + Washington DC.  Obviously the number of attendants is more important but keep in mind that Trump also has a day job.  He's doing way more for more people in more places over the same time frame as Biden who pretends to want the same job.

Jill Biden Speaks to 8 People in Papillion, Nebraska as Feeble Joe Naps in His Basement
September 26, 2020

Ok, it's just outside of Omaha, the only chance Biden has of winning one of Nebraska's Electoral College votes, but he wasn't going to bother doing it?  His campaign has shut down again today.  They seem to be doing it more often the closer they get to the election.  I'm actually wondering if they'll heavily drug him for the debate.  Given this is 2020, I don't think we should be surprised if either or both candidates pass out during the debate.  Biden will still get just as many votes but it might affect Trump's.

25 September, 2020

We're almost 7.5% of the way through the 2020s!

Yesterday I watched a ton of Youtube videos, something I almost never do.  I've been watching more than usual lately but it's still been something that could easily be counted on one hand.  Yesterday, not so much.  They were all in the Everything Wrong With and Honest Trailers series about movies.  It doesn't help that I don't watch any that are about movies I've never seen because there's no point to that and for the most part they focus on modern movies which is even farther away from my interests.  Yet yesterday I was surprised to watch so many videos that for the most part I'd never seen about movies that I had.

It did get a little far in.  I did see Basic Instinct once when it was in theaters and had never given it the slightest thought since.  I was delighted to discover Everything Wrong With Citizen Kane, a movie I've seen many many times but not in ages and am now tempted to see again.  I enjoyed the joke of Everything Wrong With Transformers:  The Movie because obviously there's nothing at all wrong with that movie.  The video about the 1991 Addams Family movie was fun and about a really good movie, Christmas Vacation was ok.  I saw that one in theaters and I'm sure I've seen it at least one time since but nothing about it looked familiar.  In some ways, it's not a bad thing to have memory problems.

Anyway, what led me to write this was watching the videos about Sin City and, to a lesser extent, Watchmen.  I had seen both of those one time - Sin City in theaters, Watchmen on a bootleg video tape I bought on one of my Iraq deployments - and of course I'd read the comics when they were new and many many times sense.

I don't have a whole lot to say about Watchmen and whatever I do have I already wrote in a previous book.  I'm adding it here mostly for comparison to Sin City.  In both cases, they were as close as possible to being movie versions of the comics.  No matter how good or enjoyable comic-book movies can be, there's always a large amount of change from the source material.  Chris Claremont had no interest in Wolverine and was getting ready to write him out of X-Men after a few years of trying to find something to do with him but the entire movie series has focused almost entirely on him right from the start, literally an early scene in the first movie.  I love the Spider-Man trilogy - yes, even the third one - but they also just tied together different story arcs and changed whatever they wanted to for whatever reason.  I actually like Kirsten Dunst's role but there's no way Mary Jane Watson is just a sweet little neighbor girl trying to get a theater career.  MJ can be given personality but her first appearance was literally self-obsessed, saying "Face it, tiger, you hit the jackpot" and being hot enough to get away with that, which is the opposite of what Dunst brought to the role.  Then there's Captain America picking up Thor's hammer to beat up Thanos.  Um, no.

I've long thought that the DC movies did a better job in the sense that they weren't trying to recreate the comics characters but set up the movie as a whole and then the characters would fit in.  Christopher Reeve as Superman is obviously the prime model that showed how to to this.  That movie had very little to do with the comics but it was Superman.  Adam West's Batman made as much sense as Michael Keaton's or Christian Bale's.  Obviously I still haven't seen a lot of these movies but from what I can tell, it sounds like the modern movies are trying to copy the Marvel method and fail to make any real use of their characters.

Watchmen failed because it wasn't possible to put that much story into a movie.  The form just doesn't allow it.  Comics can add captions and thought balloons, conveying information in ways that movies simply can't do, and the nature of taking up a page allows an audience member to set the pacing themselves, re-reading the story, flipping-back and forth, taking a pause for whatever reason.  Our brains take information from reading in a different way than from listening.  I've gotten used to that over the last year.  Maybe that's why I've been wasting so much time with videos lately.  Anyway...

About the only interesting thing about Watchmen was how close they came to remaking the comic.  As much as possible, the dialogue was just copied, the characters mostly did the exact same things for the same reasons.  The only major change was the ending and I think it actually worked on a movie-level because they simply weren't able to include the entire story which would have been required for the fake alien attack on New York City.  It actually works to have Ozy's plan be to blame Dr. Manhattan for attacks on the entire world, it's just the rest of the movie that sucked, even though they did their best to recreate a comic book that is widely considered the best ever.  It wasn't but it unquestionably altered the medium itself.

Sin City was even more like that.  One thing I'll give it credit for is that it's a great looking movie.  This was probably the first time computer backgrounds were used for everything and that gives the visuals a really cool appearance.  Ok, the third part of the Star Wars prequels came out the same year so obviously it had been done before, but those just looked boring.  This one looked amazing.  They also had the guts to make a black-and-white movie with very rare uses of color exactly as the comic did.  One woman's dress might be the only thing colored in a given scene, even when other women were standing right there.  Black-and-white characters fight and then one dies, covered in red blood.  In a lot of ways, the movie worked because it was just one long great visual effect which matches the characters and the plot.

On the other hand, there's also the difference between reading something and hearing it which is what totally ruined it.  One can criticize Frank Miller's dialogue but I think it's good, just made to fit his characters and his stories.  This is what he's focused on, as opposed to Alan Moore who writes good dialogue based on different characters doing different things in different stories.

The Watchmen characters at least tried to recreate realistic dialogue for these characters in this story.  That's not what Frank Miller does.  It works perfectly to read the stories about Marv or whoever, but it absolutely fails when listening to actors reciting the exact same thing as narration for fight scenes.  Fictional characters speak (or think) in their own pacing which is completely different from what real people do and it's vastly different to experience it on a page than when staring at the screen with dubbed-in sound.  Miller may not write the greatest dialogue in history but he's excellent at what he does and putting the exact same words in the mouth of expensive actors is arguably the worst movie dialogue ever.

And they absolutely copied the comics which were almost certainly the storyboards for filming.  If you've read the comics, there's nothing new in the movie, except that Nancy never gets naked.  Jessica Alba refused to play a stripper who shows her breasts to anyone and for reasons I'll never understand, they went with making the character the exact opposite of her true self.  That's the point where they decided to get away from Miller's creation and Miller was fine with that?  What's going on behind the scenes?  It would not have hurt the movie to say 'ok, Carla Gugino will be Nancy and Alba can play Becky."

Anyway, it was enjoyable to see clips from these movies and remember the comics.  I got Frank Miller to autograph my first edition copy of the first Sin City collection and I still have the original issues of Watchmen in good condition, along with the first collection which has been read too many times to be in remotely good condition as well as the ABSOLUTE collection which I probably got on the same Iraq deployment.

I think my reading ability is improving although it's nowhere near where it was a year ago.  I can look up whatever I need to in books but actually reading them is usually too difficult to bother.  Oddly enough, comics are a lot easier, most of the time anyway.  I suspect part of the problem is the size and quantity of text.  A full page of typed words is usually more than I'm willing to do but for the most part, captions and word balloons are little problem, if any.

One thing I've noticed, probably a result of my obsession with Avengers movies, is that I have given very little attention to superhero comics.  I'll look through one if it's on my mind for whatever reason but that rarely happens and even when it does, the words don't seem worth the bother.  I had Claremont's X-Men on my mind at one point at grabbed one of the Essential volumes and very quickly realized that I wasn't going to put in the effort required to actually read it.  Even with memory problems, it's still part of my mind enough that I know what's happening from panel-to-panel and I'll read particular word balloons here and there.  What bothers me is that, after all these decades, I'm doing a lot more comics-reading by just looking at the pictures.

Now the problem because that I don't have a whole lot more I want to re-read, superhero or otherwise.  I re-read Fables recently and just didn't think it was as good as I used to.  I'm happy to grab books by Peter Bagge, Garth Ennis or Kyle Baker, I haven't yet felt the need to pick up Sandman, Groo, Will Eisner or most of my collections of newspaper strips.  Or Cerebus which I suspect would give me problems for all the text pages.  Early on, I gave myself a test by grabbing Jaka's Story and that was where I really saw the problem, reading comics pages were fine, the text pages weren't.  I only made it through the prologue, even the joy of reading a book I loved but haven't read in a few years didn't help.

Sooner or later I'll try again, Frank Miller's Daredevil, Alan Moore's various titles, Astro City or the Essential collections of Stan-Jack-Steve comics or whatever.  I will always love superheroes but it's strange how the success of Avengers (and a bunch of other Marvel movies I will probably never see) has taken me out of interest in the medium that created them.  Then again, my medical issues have taken me away from the 'words' part of the 'words and pictures' medium.  That's the 2020s for you.

This is how the guy is working to get a job, what does anyone expect him to do if he actually gets it?  He won't show up every day to run for President, why would he show up at all if he wins?  He'll get paid regardless.

China Forces Tibetans into Mass Labor Camps

If you've ever wondered why Democrats seem to love China so much, there you go.  They don't even need to pay to get slaves, they just take them and that's that.  They got half a million more slaves in the first six months of 2020 and it's not like they just started doing this.

There's also news coming out that more has been released regarding Hunter Biden's adventures in Ukraine.  That's fine but this is getting ridiculous.  At this point I don't expect anything meaningful to happen.  I'd love to be wrong, but he can get all the drugs and money and slaves he wants and Democrats will always support him because of his last name.

September 24, 2020

I'm not sure I totally believe this but it does make a good example of why Democrats were determined to have mail-in votes handle this election.  How else could they throw away any votes that aren't for them?

It's also been noted that all of a sudden Democrats are saying people should show up on Election Day.  I'm not sure I totally believe that one either.  I mean, I'm sure they're saying it but do they believe it in the slightest?  I have wondered if there are long-established policies to stop mail-in voting fraud which they never gave the slightest thought to and now they're being caught, that would explain why they're suddenly pretending to want people voting in person, but there's no way we'll ever know that.

Joe Biden to Stay in His Basement Until Next Week’s Debate – Jill Will Stump For Her Feeble Husband For the Next Five Days
September 24, 2020

Ok, are they going to pretend he's sick and cancel the debate?  Is he really sick and they don't want people wondering why he's even bothering to run when Bernie Sanders is still healthy?  Has there ever been such an election where the candidate is so obviously a prop and the only question is wondering who's really in charge?

It's pointed out that Biden has almost no media at the few appearances he makes and those appearances are never promoted in advance.  Trump's appearances are definitely promoted in advance, that's kind of required to get a stadium.  If Trump has to cancel one of them (and I'd swear he did have to not long ago but I don't remember when or where) it gets noticed.  If Biden cancels, no one knows because no one knew it was supposed to happen and no one would have been there if he did show up.

I've also wondered if he's going to stay alive through Election Day.  If he falls over dead at the debates, is that going to change any of his voters?  No, not really.  It's all about Trump, Democrats could put a dead dog on the ballot who would get just as many votes as Biden.

21 September, 2020

I made it absolutely clear that I would go forward with the confirmation progress, process as chairman, even a few months before a presidential election, if the nominee were chosen with the advice and not merely the consent of the Senate.  Just as the Constitution requires.  My consistent advice to presidents of both parties, including this president, has been that we should engage fully in the constitutional process of advice and consent.  And my consistent understanding of the Constitution has been the Senate must do so as well.  Period.  They have an obligation to do so.”
- Joe Biden, 2016

But the media doesn't want to mention this stuff.  The President has every right to nominate a Supreme Court justice, the Senate has every right to say 'yes' or 'no.'  That applied four years ago and applies today.  It's Democrats who decide things change for no reason other than them getting what they want.  Now they're campaigning on adding a lot more judges to the Supreme Court which even Ruth Bader Ginsburg opposed, not that they'll listen to her.

They're barely even pretending to want anything other than power.  At this point, the question is more about how long they've been planning this.  It was definitely underway during Obama, they were definitely working this way under GWB - I realized it was going on in November 2004 - and it's not hard to believe that this was being prepared under Bush Sr, Reagan, Carter, Nixon...  Look at how violent the 1968 Democratic Convention was.  They were working for Russia then...
Black Lives Matter Quietly Deletes It's "What We Believe" Page Calling For The Destruction Of The Nuclear Family
September 21, 2020

The destruction of the family is something I think leftists have wanted for a long time and possibly wanted more than anything else.  The question is whether it's about destroying the family itself for its own sake or increasing government intervention in its property.  Because that's definitely what it is, government ownership of everyone and everything possible.  I don't know if the concept existed before Lenin's Russia but he was definitely trying to have the government know everything about everything which basically explains how communist nations work where people have to pretend to go along with government rulers.

It possibly did exist because I suspect what we know as leftism has always existed but it possibly didn't because they had never had such absolute control of a nation that they'd have even thought that far in advance.  They never expected to permit private business or the Eastern Orthodox Church until something came along after they were in charge which they couldn't get by without what they'd banned.

Government control is obviously their main desire but it's quite possible removal of men underlies that whether or not they're aware of it.  Obviously this demonstrates the gender difference and why humans don't work on the same level as every other animal.  It's also obvious that this is what the left has been doing to blacks for generations.  They want their property to obey without question and getting rid of the men is how they've done it.

They do love violence, don't they?
I'm sure I won't be leaving Facebook immediately.  If nothing else it'll take a little time to readjust how I write and post on this blog.

One of the things I liked about Facebook was that I could make posts of any size.  Back when I was using this blog regularly, I felt an obligation to make a post of a decent length.  With Facebook, I could do long posts or just make a comment or two or just post a web link, whatever hit me at the time.  I quite liked that and obviously haven't had any objection to doing it for the last ten years.

But this new system is ugly and it's like they specifically chose methods that ruin the point.  I copy-and-paste my work to a word document so it can become the basis for a book.  I had always waited two days for the date to appear on each post.  It also let me copy any response people made to the posts, you know, keeping a record of things.  But a couple months ago, the system stopped adding days for the previous week.  It might be "2d" or "4d" or "7d" and they didn't even do that correctly.  Right now posts from Friday, September 18 can be "1d" or "2d."  That's not how counting days works and is far inferior to the system from a few months ago which would all say "September 18."

When they finally forced the new system on me against my will several ds ago, I discovered that I had to copy and paste each post separately.  It looked like several posts had been covered and running the mouse over weblinks said they were still there but 'paste' would only include the top post and not include any further comments or pictures.  Then there's the way I had to rework things in order to adjust the layout to my usual position and it was very obvious that I'd have to do a lot more work just to achieve the same goal.  That's not a good system, but Facebook is the publisher.

Oh wait, they aren't.  I doubt many people used Facebook as the first draft of books the way I did, but I bet there are some.  Their political views don't help and it's safe to assume they don't consider themselves part of the peons who have to obey.  I don't know if I'll totally leave but there isn't a lot to stay for.  I don't play games or pay attention to many groups.  I write, that's about all.

At the moment, my main worry about posting here has been the short comments I make whenever I think of one.  I like putting humorous lines between the essays of my books.  I haven't been in that mood for a few months now but God willing, it will come back.  Much of my first few books came from this blog but I did like the productivity on Facebook.  If they just let us use the system as it's been for the last ten years, I wouldn't leave.  But they insist and they're the publisher.

Dammit, why do I keep thinking of them that way?  Oh right, because they insist on it.
