If I identified as a woman, my penis would get a lot more use and I wouldn't need anybody's permission.

One thing I've been wondering for a while now is if famous people - notably from Hollywood - have made forming their own cults into a standard practice.  Not just in hiring people for their mansions and promotion, but actively trying to gather people together to be their followers.  Most likely it would fail, but there may be exceptions, certainly in sending these people out to the rest of the world.  I have to wonder if that's what made California such a nutty place.

Today I ran into a reference to Joan Crawford, probably best-known these days as the subject of Mommie Dearest by her daughter.  What stuck out is that all her kids were adopted.  Crawford had four husbands in thirty years, none of them lasted more than four years, but none of her own.  It was illegal in California to adopt so they went to Las Vegas to pick someone.  All her kids were renamed with letters starting with "C."  No idea what that means but it's sure how one can treat one's own property.

An early husband was Douglas Fairbanks Jr., son of one of the earliest movie stars and one of "Hollywood royalty."  There are women who'd go straight for that and there are guys who wouldn't be straight.  She partied with people like F. Scott Fitzgerald who was a pop-culture star at the beginnings of modern media but his career was already going downhill.  He had to try to work in movies, fer pete's sake.

Anyway, they'd make a point of taking kids and doing whatever they wanted to them.  I don't know if it's the nature of acting or just Hollywood itself, but pretending to be a totally different person has gotta have some effect on how they conceive the individual and they don't seem to like it.  Most Californians live in very large cities which itself leads to ideas that can't exist outside of a city.  It also occurred to me today that the original concept of nations probably came from that, the ruler needed a place to live and that required a lot of people around to maintain and that required even more people to grow food, transport it, build things, and so on, leading to the city-state.  Before that there was just mobile tribes, moving around and taking whatever they could.  The city-state had to keep records and teach people to read and write these records which brought up history and the nation came from there.

But now these people only get the upsides of living in a large population with many servants and claim to oppose it all.  They have to twist minds to get away with that and, despite denying individuality, each of them will find their own way to do it with different levels of success and failure.  We are all individuals but a lot of people don't want to accept that and they can only get by with a lot of people acknowledging reality despite them.

And where better than Hollywood to start pushing this?  The cults can unite or break up for any reason and if enough of them get appointed/hired to, say, a movie company, they can start controlling everything there.  I've been wondering if there are symbols in movies and tv which most people ignore but those who are in the 'inside' recognize as getting messages.

Take the obvious copy of the latest Star Wars movie climax with the much more enjoyable final Avengers movie, both produced by Disney.  I don't know if "alternate universes" is the right term, but something along those lines seems to be getting attempted these days and visual media would be the place to start promoting it and imposing it on everyone.

Then there's the odd use of Quicksilver in the recent Wandavision tv series - which I've never seen; how often do people think of tv and movies they've never seen? - where the actor pretending to be Wanda's brother is the one who plays Quicksilver in the X-Men movie franchise.

That goes back to the early 21st century when Marvel was desperate for money and selling movie rights to any character it could get.  For some odd reason, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were sold twice, as mutants/Magneto's kids to 20th Century Fox and as two of the most-classic Avengers to Disney who later purchased the whole company.  Quicksilver made one memorable appearance in his first X-movie - which I have seen! - and has been played by a different actor in his later appearances, the one who claimed to be Wanda's brother.  [Apparently he wasn't, he was someone else, this was a plot device for the conclusion.  I am still slightly tempted to see this series.]  Wanda didn't show up at all.  And they both appeared in Avengers 2 where Quicksilver died and hasn't come back.  People pay less attention to movie companies than they do to characters and stories but those have their role to make it happen, just as Marvel and DC were known for all these decades in comics.

Warner Bros. actually called a tv crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths" so it would seem they're into the idea as well.  A lot of these rich and famous people did read comics once upon a time, people who are rich but not famous probably did too and get to make decisions for the others.  That may be a good way to explain some of the connections we find in movie history and leading to others, especially if you factor in their attempts to start a cult.

And yes, I wonder if that applies to politics.  It would explain why so many Republicans immediately turned to support Democrats no-matter-what in the last four years.  They had to obey their masters.

Yes, the government is sending men with guns out to stop the protestors.  No, people who aren't paid by the government to own guns don't get to have any.  That's what liberals have wanted all these decades and we're watching it yet again.

And no liberal claims Cubans have the right to vote.  One party is all they get and they're only now getting around to the third party leader whose picked by the first leader's older brother.

Is he the first space tourist?  It's possible there have been others before but I've been wondering recently why there haven't been more?  You'd think there'd be rich people somewhere who eagerly wanted to go pay whatever it took to get them into space over the last several decades.  I've even been wondering why they haven't worked out a moon site or at least a satellite that can be landed on, take a few pictures, then head back to Earth.
