That's actually a sensible argument, it would become worse if the Americans in charge lifted a finger to get involved.  It's reasonable to ask what their response will be in a couple months as the Taliban is putting hostage videos on the internet, but they'll worry about it then.  It's not like they'll lose their jobs or anything.  That's how much they care.

It makes sense as a backup plan but it's not like the Taliban will need it, they can just enter the US without facing any guards or law-enforcement.  The entire border is open for anyone who wants to get in, no matter what weapons or viruses they bring with them.  There's nothing Americans can do about it and that's how the rulers want it.

And for anybody saying the Taliban has no way to get near the border, they did magically acquire an airport recently.  There are airplanes there, they can fly across the ocean and land anywhere they want.  Who's going to stop them?

Still pondering where leftism comes from (and trying to think of a better term than "leftism".)  They think they're right and anybody who doesn't agree is wrong and evil and a conspiracy against them.  Even when they're clearly wrong, it's someone else's fault.  Trump followed Obama/Biden's policies in Afghanistan so it's Trump's fault that Afghanistan has beaten the US eight months after Biden took office.

There's a group-think to it, "now the adults are in charge," but I think that has to come from the individual who goes along with it.  But it does show a unanimous sense of 'we look good' which is always more important than anything else.  Even power may be less-important, merely a means to silence anybody who points out their mistakes that don't make them look so good.

I dunno, still trying to work this out.  "We win the argument" by silencing anyone who disagrees, regardless of whether or not they're right.  How do you even get that far?
