He's trying to win support for an opposing party - the ones against the EU - to hurt his own party member's election chances so that party member can't challenge him to be PM.  Ok, first of all, English politics just sound stupid.  Maybe they'd just do better if they had a king.  It's a shame Elizabeth left without providing one of them.  Second of all, I know it's common for politicians to make ridiculous statements like that, especially hurting their own side and supporting the enemies.  When it works, they get away with it.  When it doesn't, well we probably don't hear of it for the most part.

Next month is the ten year-anniversary of Brexit.  I highly doubt any more people have decided it was a bad idea to leave but I bet a lot more people are glad they did and which it could be more permanent.  Starmer makes it sound even worse by saying "This year, we have another summit with the EU where we’re going to take a really important leap forward in terms of the relationship, bring us closer to Europe."  Uh, you and what army?

There may still be the long-standing disagreement within the UK.  Ireland and Scotland voted to stay, England and Wales to leave.  Just a guess but I'd say it's more about being Irish and Scottish than any actual love for the EU, they have to disagree with England.  And of course London voted to stay.  If anything, they're more willing to get out now, only the illegal immigrants can be bribed to join the EU.  I'm assuming Starmer will be receiving orders to re-join at the summit.  Or he might be gone any day now.

A lot of his social media has been deleted for obvious reasons but, like the SS Totenkopf tattoo, it's not going away.  He claimed the tattoo was just being young and drunk although since-deleted social media posts from 2019 have shown that he knew exactly where the skull and crossbones came from.  Also in 2019, he posted how he loves watching a 2013 video of an American soldier being shot in Afghanistan.  "This never gets old."

So now the people who made sure to copy his social media posts before they were deleted have found a 2017 post he made about sitting in a porta-potty.  You can say 'he's just being a Marine, they're stupid that way' ok, fine.  But Democrats really need to start asking why they need him so desperately as a candidate.  Is this the most competent leftist in Maine?  Is the party really missing that 'certain something' now that Swalwell's gone?

That's where I think the real problem is for Democrats, these are the sort of people they appeal to running for office.  They think they can get away with anything and the party just proves them right about that.  Nobody cares about him now but he's going to become extremely popular once his signature is required to launder millions of taxpayer dollars.  We can also see this with the way Democrats absolutely adored Fetterman *before* he got brain surgery.  Throw in Ilhan Omar and AOC, that's the ever-lowering standards required to be a Democrat candidate.

It's politics so it's not like you get the best for the job anyway but there's still a tangible loss of even pretending to have ability.  Obama presented himself well, Bill Clinton was great at socializing.  Even Joe Biden came off as an energetic outgoing politician, he's an idiot but maybe he can still get things done.  But these people aren't even trying to do that, they're the 'thug' class.  They just want to take more power and benefit themselves that way and are barely even trying to hide it.  No wonder they find the *woke* agenda so useful, just repeat the same nonsense and nobody's allowed to disagree with them.  These are the sort of people who were putting on nazi tattoos a hundred years ago and it worked out well for them, at least for a while.

I guess the primaries are starting for this year's elections.  I don't follow such things but we will see how affective Trump is at getting rid of RINOs.  He just made an official endorsement, waiting 'til the last minute.  Maybe he had showed support earlier, I can't imagine even Trump can make tons of people stop what they're doing and rush out to vote at the drop of a hat.

It's also not clear what effect this will have.  There's just too many possibilities to be certain.  Just a glimpse at Massie's career, he doesn't look horrible.  But I don't follow him so I may be off about that.  The point is it's just not clear how much is getting rid of dead wood and how much is an actual purge.  Massie came out of the Tea Party movement which I'm also ambivalent about.  On the one hand, I did support it at the time and hoped it would put some actual right-wingers in office.  On the other hand, it doesn't seem to have done that very well and even at the time I was worried that it could be 'controlled opposition' by the left.  Ok, but how is that really different from Trump's MAGA movement?

Going after voter fraud, getting rid of illegals, redistricting, all that stuff, Trump is doing everything he can to make a real change in the next election or two.  That's good and I support it but I'm not confident enough to believe it'll work and even if it does, I wouldn't expect it to last very long.  If nothing else, the right-wing finds something else to do with their lives.  We're not going to devote our time to politics and would be indistinguishable from leftists if we did.  We need real motivation to be involved and not just relying on Trump.

But for those who do follow this stuff, this is a good sign.  There will be more in the primaries, then we'll see if it follows-through with the general election.  But the Democrats have to be worried.  Their attempts at fraud will be under heavy observation.  Meanwhile their main supporters will be bored.  They've already spent sixteen months screaming how the tyrant is going to kill us all and there's still almost six months to go before November.  I really hope Trump and his people have plans ready to show actual wins for a change instead of what we're seeing now.

Hadn't expected it but I'm surprisingly interested in hearing how the new Star Wars product is doing.  I'm not going to see it unless someone pays me enough money to be worth it but I am genuinely curious how big of a failure it will be.  As usual, nobody is willing to predict a complete bomb but we're only a couple days away so critics who've seen the movie are permitted to start giving actual reviews and it's not looking good.

There's some generic positive reviews, few people seem to say much about the story or the characters.  The negative comments give more details, even from mainstream media critics.  It's been seven years since the biggest franchise in history has had new product for movie theaters and this was the best they could do.  As far as I know, nobody has been mentioning any surprises, guest appearances by celebrities we used to like, or at least their A.I. impersonators.

There's always the rhetoric about how a franchise needs to 'do something different' but that's not how you build a franchise.  You need to stay with what has appealed to people for so many years.  This is a Disney+ tv show put on the big screen which probably got more attention than it deserved, and that's just because it had a Star Wars logo.  And because this is Disney property and they're trying to push the *woke* agenda.

This isn't the end.  I have no clue where Disney will go next but they can't just throw it away.  Maybe they'll hire outside studios to do stuff or pay people to use A.I.  They do have another movie that's supposed to be released soon but that's guaranteed failure.  We'll also be looking forward to the upcoming Avengers movie which might conceivably do better than this but will lose a lot more money because of how much Disney has wasted on it.  They're headed for disaster and are still ignoring any warning.
