Still thinking about what they're trying to do to superhero movies with the Ezra Miller thing.  I keep making comments to the Earth-2 Miller who would be able to get away with this stuff, i.e. a reference to the Barry Allen Flash who started the Silver Age of Comics and the Multiverse.

But I've been thinking a lot about superheroes, comics and movies.  No particular answers, but I've been wondering if one problem with the genre is that it encourages self-identification, in the sense that it makes oneself special but not others.

Superman could pick any chick he was attracted to - except Supergirl because that's just wrong! - but for story reasons, he always picks Lois, which is rather pathetic but also in line with the attitude of the nerdy geeks who read comics.  Superman *is* the model for the genre and this was part of his character from the start.

To this day, it's rare to find examples of them that differ.  The Golden Age Sandman is the only one that comes to mind.  Arguably the Fantastic Four, in that they don't have secret identities.  There's also the Shadow, if you want to include a pre-superhero comic example.

Anyway, I'm wondering what they're getting these actors in the current movies into.  The whole reason I started writing this line of thought was thinking about whatsername, who was in a couple X-Men movies playing Kitty Pride, and what's been done to her in the last several years.  Face it, that's what a real Kitty would wind up as, not like the fictional character.

Or the recent Spider-Man movie that brought in all the actors from the various versions of the franchise.  I never saw it but I was quite tempted to, partially to see Doc Ock and JJJ again, but also to see how they were going to try to work this multiverse.  But I did notice that they didn't bother to bring back Harry Osbourne, whose actor has had some serious problems recently.

This may be what the intent is for self-identifying as special.  The Avengers movies seem to have made a point of showing how multiple 'special' people handled everything over the rest of us slobs, possibly the whole point for the climax of Avengers 4.  A normal person wouldn't think of anything like that, but comics fans and Hollywood aren't normal.

And whether they're real or made-up, the same vaccine can be used for all of them.  It's not like the rubes will know the difference.  I definitely think that's why they're pushing all these viruses, whether they're real or not.

And they're really after this too.  It's anecdotal, but it has looked to me like grocery stores are more empty than they've been for the last year+.  Nothing specific to point to, just that they seem to have much more space on the shelves, like the trucks are just delivering less.

The 'eat bugs' mentality is bad enough, but now I have to wonder if the point is that our surviving masters will all laugh 'well we TOLD them to eat bugs!  It's not our fault they ignored us!'

Perhaps more and more people are picking up as many spares as they can.  I think those of us who can get back-up supplies are doing it these days.  This is not going to be a good winter, we can already see that coming.
