I had a thought once, but don't worry, I got the vaccine for it.

Even leftists are pointing out the problems with California banning gas vehicles.  The state already keeps shutting down electricity which is a big problem for powering the vehicles they want you to buy.  If there's a fire or an earthquake or something and you need to run, but your vehicle isn't charged, you're in big trouble.

Besides the power grid problems, there's also the expense.  You've got to punish poor people who don't spend money they don't have on what you tell to buy.  The public transportation system is already broken and they're taking a lot longer to do anything about it than a competent administration would need.

Obviously they'll all continue to support the rulers but a few of them can get close to the truth.  Haven't seen any actual evidence yet but I've heard that the DC mayor realized she looked horrible if she banned kids from school right away so she's given them until January 2023.

And that's how noble and caring the pretend-vaccine makers are, they're keeping it for themselves.  And no leftist is going to demand it belongs to everybody, they'll just completely ignore this while demanding everybody get the vaccine and claiming property is totally bad.

I'm surprised that he was allowed to make a few brief appearances before going back on vacation.  Can't let him out too much or he might say whatever's on his mind and show that he doesn't have one.

Gotta admit, it's becoming more and more obvious that he doesn't have any relevant role in running the country.  There's little reason to think they even need his signature on documents.  They just need to give the media something to briefly take pictures of, I guess.

Can't think of any specific example but since the recession started and was officially denied, it really seems like the rulers have doubled down even more on whatever they say is true no matter what.  My guess is that those on the highest level know how little time is left and are grabbing everything they can get now, because it might not be there tomorrow, next week, next month, whenever the collapse finally happens.

And so this happens.  He's probably just copying what France said a day ago but the point is to tell people that we're in for long term misery with them in charge and they're going to stay in charge, as we saw in 1984.  So the stock market went down a lot and, assuming it can't be rigged, we can expect it to keep going down.

They've just demonstrated that they will support people who do nothing no matter how much it costs people who can actually do something.  And these people claim to be for the "working man," showing that they are blatantly lying.

Making as many people as possible suffer is best for us.  Our masters say so.

Still trying to figure out what the sane people can do to organize a resistance.  One thing I'm definitely not sure about is how to handle money.  For the time being, we might be able to continue using the US dollar but that would need to stop at some point unless our rulers crumble, which probably won't happen.

Barter and trade would be useful but only for low-level/immediate tasks.  How do you barter with someone to install plumbing in your home?  How do you barter for production of food for any more than a handful of people?

Gold and silver would be an obvious choice.  The problem is that most of us don't have any and most of us don't live any place we could dig some up so that leaves us with the same problems.

I don't pretend to know anything about money - give me some and maybe I can learn :D - but I think it's quite possible, even likely, that localities would start printing their own forms of money.  Ok, that's believable, perhaps even sensible, but how do they work out differences for trade?  At some point they may get into agreement and share a common currency but I doubt that would happen right away.

There's also our tyrants but I do think they're largely ignorable at this level.  They're trying to put all money on the internet which they use to invent every other falsehood so that's just going to shut itself off, especially once the electricity starts going out.  As the saying goes, knowledge will be the real wealth.

But that still leaves the majority of people with the problems of physical trade.  I am trying to think about how it might work but there are obviously going to be a lot of problems no matter what.

And just because I had the idea so I might as well put it down, I'm going to assume that many of the people who wind up in charge of their locals will have military experience.  It might be helpful if they sew together their souvenir t-shirts or posters from their respective units to treat as a flag/guide-on.  That way other regions who decide to pay a visit can recognize that they're at a place that recognizes the proper policies and traditions.

I'd take it as a given that people wouldn't run into and recognize their old buddies, but they would know when they're dealing with someone who came from the same background.  I don't know if police officers or other organizations would be as effective with this, but it's certainly possible.  Just a thought.
