Just another note on Democrat-run cities, someone really should put together a coherent list that includes everything:

Montgomery, Alabama was the first capital of the Confederacy, from February through the end of May 1861.  Richmond, Virginia was the second Confederate capital until a month before the war ended.

Montgomery has mayors that stay for five or ten years but not always, it's a little unclear, but they've had five Republican mayors since the end of the Confederacy.  Two of them were in office from 1868-1875.  One was in office from March 1977-November 1999.  An acting mayor had two months in 2009 and was followed by another Republican who left office in 2019.  That's it.

It's surprising that there were actually that many Republicans but that may be caused by how long they stayed in office.  22 years?  How many cities get that?

Anyway, Richmond is more typical for Democrats but you'd expect that from the capital of the Confederate States of America.  It's had two Republican mayors in its entire history and the first held office from 1868-1870.  The other one from 1988-1990.  The city was founded in 1742 but they knew how to keep blacks before 1868 and after 1870, before 1988 and after 1990 and they've never lost any blacks.

For general reasons, I was thinking about Queen and for whatever reason, the snotty idiot's claim entered my head, that 'you never really had any interest, you're lying, I dare you to name anything they did.'  Because I had nothing else to do but amuse myself, the discussion said to a challenge to name any song from The Works and, surprisingly given my memory, I found myself responding (to myself) with "all I hear is the hammer falling down, hopefully I break free, it's my life we're talking about," obviously referencing to several songs from the album.  Pure coincidence I'm sure, but each one was written by a different member of the band and I think all were singles, at least in the UK.

So what the hell, it's been ages since I listened to a Queen album and The Works was on my mind for some pointless reason, why not?

I seem to be usually listening to bonus tracks first, I don't know where this version of "Hammer to Fall" came from but it sounded awesome.  I'm just listening on a computer and thought even the production stood out although it may just be because I haven't heard the actual song lately but obviously have listened to it many many millions of times.  "Thank God It's Christmas" was a nice-if-minor ballad, one can see why it didn't make the album but they did consider releasing it as a single anyway, which worked.  "I Go Crazy" was just weird to hear from this band, a generic song about sex.  I'm pretty sure it was done in the style of the Rolling Stones, they're even mentioned in the lyrics, which itself is strange.  One reason I love this band so much is that they keep successfully going in all these different styles while still sounding like Queen.

Then the album starts.  I'd forgotten how much I loved "Radio Gaga."  The lyrics are rather weak but the music is great, almost an epic.  "Tear It Up" is another basic rock song.  I guess Queen had done stuff like that before - I'm thinking Jazz specifically - but it still sounds different.  Actual musicianship, actual songwriting, we don't get to hear things like this before.

"It's a Hard Life" is actually weaker than I remembered it but it's still a well-produced Freddie ballad.  It sounds like they're just deliberately filling a slot.  Even this band would eventually run out of directions to go and have to repeat themselves.  The lyrics sound like stereotypical 1980s nonsense and I don't mean that in a good way although there's nothing really wrong with them.  After that, Freddie goes back to "Man on the Prowl" which is not one of Queen's better songs, back to the 50's rock style like "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" but nowhere near as much fun although the band sounds great in the last part.

"Machines (Back To Humans)" doesn't work but it's an noble try to start adding computers to musical production.  The bridge sounds good, even the lyrics, and there's still a band playing in the background towards the end so there's something.  Still, I have to think the song should have been shorter.

Then there's "I Want To Break Free."  I love the bridge but the rest of the song is so stupid and dorky that I can't understand why it was ever popular.  John was the weakest songwriting in the band (which is like being the shortest giant) and this is a good example of why.  It just starts, goes along and ends.

"Keep Passing the Open Windows" was written for a possible movie soundtrack that never happened, I'm not even sure the movie ever happened.  The song is actually better than "It's A Hard Life" but obviously not as good a choice for Freddie's single.  For that matter, how do these things get decided?  Bad enough that Queen would be arguing with each other to get their own song on a single but how does the record company figure it out for any band?  Just listen to the album over and over and over before release and vote on it?  Play a song here and there for someone who claims to have a clue what the audience wants?

I'm not enjoying "Hammer to Fall" as much as before, probably because I just heard it, but it is still a great sounding hard-rock song.  I do have to be astounded by how these guys knew how to write a commercial song, every bit of it is catchy and well-produced.  It probably helped that they'd added synthesizers a few years ago, everybody knew how to play them and they were done with the disco nonsense.  They knew how pop music worked and headed straight in that direction.  It's also a typical 1980s lyric.  Then "Is This the World We Created" follows the same path, just going about it completely differently to put together a short guitar-based melody between Freddie and Brian.  It almost sounds like they're just sitting there, playing and singing something on the spot.  Obviously more work went into it than that but it's a good show.  It just ends, closing off the album.

Well, that was definitely the works and it definitely worked.

I don't expect any success in this move for counties to go to another state, but I have to wonder how the conflict will effect the attempt to pretend Washington DC is a state.  The small populated cities are where all the leftists live and the Democrats in charge will be realizing that they can't get food, gas, taxes, etc. from places that are no longer in their state.

It's possibly an example of how individuals work, in ways that our forefathers recognized but leftists can't.  They don't give any thought to counties, they're just parts of states run by Democrats and have to obey.  That's not even counting the towns within each county or districts in each, then there's every state falling under the federal government but some states are more important than others.

Interesting note, this doesn't include a lot of the most famous movies in history like Gone with the Wind or The Wizard of Oz.  Warner Bros. purchased them back in the 1980s.  I'm trying to remember how that went, I remember hearing about it at the time, maybe a little after.  I thought it was Ted Turner who made the purchase.  I think he was aiming at their cartoons to show on his tv networks but the movies were offered too so he grabbed them for a low price in 1986.  Maybe he sold them to Warners afterward, maybe they were part of the original purchase, maybe I'm mis-remembering everything.

Looking it up, I guess I was right but it was very unclear exactly what Turner was buying.  The Popeye cartoons are a good example, no one knows who owns them or really who has the rights to Popeye.  There's also United Artists which is somehow a part of the deal and the way billioniare Kirk Kerkorian seemed to keep selling and re-purchasing MGM in the 80s and 90s for reasons that make no sense.  He was more interested in hotels, Kerkorian first purchased it in 1969 because he was more interested in their real estate holdings, particularly in Las Vegas where he'd started the International Hotel and opened it with Barbra Streisand and Elvis as the opening acts.

Anyway, it seems like a decades-long mess but so does everything else.

In other news, I've finally given up on the next book but in a good way.  I was hoping to spend this weekend continuing to edit it but finally decided 'screw it.'  I'm mostly surprised that I included so many pages in the proof copy I've ordered, I'll have to remove fifty pages no matter what and it's not like I'm not writing more every day.

I loved her heart, mind and body. I just couldn't get used to the way she married someone else and wouldn't even cheat with me. How cruel!

Not really sure what I have to say at the moment.  It's a weekend and I want to work on the book as much as possible.  I've vaguely looked up headlines and have some left over from yesterday but really haven't done much thinking about this stuff.  I've gotten used to getting books done quickly and am not sure how to handle myself when it's been nearly half-a-year since I finished one.

I know, it's only rock and roll but I can tolerate it in small doses, if I've taken enough pharmaceuticals from the outset...

I have finally listened to a few songs credited to G'n'R that aren't on any albums.  Supposedly they were leaks but there's no way to know when they were done or by whom.  They're on Youtube, that's all I know.  They're listed as being from the "2000 Intentions" leak, back when the album was going to be released at the turn of the millenium.

"Hardschool" sounds good.  I've heard it might be something the new employees are working on, the guitar at the end is definitely not Slash, but it actually sounds like Guns'n'fuckin'Roses.  Axl's vocals aren't great but a lot better than on anything he's actually released in the last 25 years.  The lyrics aren't intelligible so there's nothing to complain about there.  This is something he could have done with new band-members and it would have been G'n'R.

"State of Grace" is definitely more "modern" and not in a good way.  Axl's vocals are like they are today and the music is definitely overdone, but there are still parts of it that sound workable.  It wouldn't be too hard to edit out the excess noise and make an actual song.  It could even work as a novelty compared to other rock songs, unlike CD which was that from start to finish.  This isn't remotely great but there's still some potential.

"Perhaps" is more of this, just endless noise and meaningless horrible vocals.  It does sound slightly closer to a typical song in places than the released tracks, that's about the only positive thing to say.  If I have any affection for this, it's because I've never heard it before.  Why would you call a song "Perhaps" when the closest to a chorus keeps repeating the words "you're all alone"?

"Atlas Shrugged" is still the same.  Meaningless sections that are put together for no real reason.  Is that Brian May playing a few bits here-and-there?

There's probably several more tracks like this somewhere in the vault, can't see any reason they couldn't have been released for real a decade ago like he had said he'd do two decades ago.

Apparently we're at the time of year where Sirius XM gives free access to people to convince people to buy it.  I obviously missed it last time around because I almost never used my car, now I need to use it so I've had the radio on more often (although possibly not even 50% of the time; I'm not listening to music or anything else as much as I used to.)  I went straight to the 1940s era.  Partially there's little else that looks interesting but I must admit I wanted to hear some actual music for a change.

I'm not enjoying it.  I'll probably keep it on for however the free access lasts but it's not that interesting.  Even though most of their songs include Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, Fats Domino and a few other still-big names, I have to admit even those sounds usually sound weak.  This was supposed to be some great era of pop music but the lyrics are dorky and it often sounds like the singers are programmed into the music as just another instrument.

Popular music really doesn't hinge on talent so it's meaningless if the bands are any good or not.  Often they seem to be playing whatever comes into their minds - better produced than Chinese Democracy, but otherwise where's the difference? - and there's just seems to be a limit of how hard they're trying at whatever they're doing.

Just before noticing Sirius XM was available, I'd heard a Uriah Heep song on the local classic rock station.  I've almost never followed this band and couldn't even name the track, hell, I wasn't paying close attention here, but I still noticed that they were going all-out, leading up to a really cool wailing drum part for the climax.  I can't say whether the song itself was any good or not, but the music itself sounded great.

No matter how distant I get, there's still a part of me that likes rock'n'roll.  That sound is now past-tense and can probably be blamed for much of the suffering today, but it stands out for its own quality.

There doesn't seem to be much news today.  Good thing because I'm trying to work on the book.  Right now, my goal is to finish the proof copy within a month.  No idea how long editing the proof copy will take but I'm happy about the recent improvements I seem to have had.  At this point, I do intend to finish a book this year, well before the year ends.  I was not happy about assuming I wouldn't do one and am glad to have changed my mind.

I'm even doing some editing on printouts of various pages, hoping to speed things up.  That's not normal, I realized early on in my non-fiction publications that I simply didn't think printing out the work was relevant, until the proof-copy, obviously I wanted someway to view the writing on paper of course.

I'm going to push 'publish,' I'd like to get back to work asap.

All that I had to add was just a little more thoughts on Axl and his unlikely statement that he harassed Slash 3-4 hours almost every day for several months.  That's 3-4 hours every day that he doesn't spend making music AND he's preventing Slash from making any music.  You don't convince people to side with you that way unless you're a dictator and Axl...

Ok, but it's still not going to bring Slash on his side.  If anything, it would just piss him off.  I do think Axl's telling the truth about harassments.  It's not like Slash called Axl 3-4 hours every day for several months to refuse to work on "November Rain," "Estranged" or "Sweet Child O'Mine" and it's not like he liked those songs.  It's also not like he hadn't proven that he's willing to go along with the band, that he's capable of working with other people and that if Axl doesn't like his songs, he'll take them away and do them somewhere else.

I know I've written this before in the last several days, I'm just trying to work out the best way to say it.

One thing that sticks out is Axl's demanding credit for "melody," which he also specifies as Slash cruelly not permitting him to make any changes to from the demos.  Near as I can tell (thanks to lawyerdrummer.com) "melody" is essentially music chords merged with vocals.  Particularly in rock music, a singer's going to get most of the credit for that and generally earn it.

Axl demanded control.  Apparently he started firing people once the band started making money and by this point they were megastars.  He expected Slash to obey just like everybody else.

Just fill in this space with meaningless nonsense, no-one'll know the difference.

This is a man's world, but it would mean something without a woman or a girl.

That's what James Brown meant.  Why else would he use double negatives?

The New York Times ran a headline, "Attacks on Jews Over Israel Are A Gift To the Right."  After a while, they changed it to "The Crisis of Anti-Semitic Violence."  How do you get from one line to the other?  The latter is generically meaningless, the former has no problems with violence against Jews except insofar as a political gain.  They're the ones projecting political gain on others and saying how bad it is.

There's the old saying from Jim Treacher, "When Republicans screw up, that’s the story. When Democrats screw up, the Republicans’ reaction is the story.”  Notice they didn't change the story, just admitting that they hate Jews and Republicans and are fine with violence against them, or at least against one group.

I would still like to think that there actually is a plan involved here, Trump and LTC Miller and others worked out how to get our enemies together openly and not realize they were now a target.

Just another note about G'n'R:  Hacker Kevin Cogill leaked Chinese Democracy on the internet in June 2008.  The law went after him but could not prosecute him for the felony of "pre-releasing copyrighted material" and they did try.  It's quite likely that the federal government flat-out asked Geffen Records and Guns'n'Roses if there were any plans to release the album and could not get a "yes" answer and there wasn't any other method of finding out.  Sure, band-members had been saying for years that the album was coming out that year, but look how that worked out.

Cogill was found guilty of a misdemeanor, "Copyright infringement."  Just because they had no intention of releasing the album didn't mean it wasn't their property.

I've also found something that seems a little more iffy, that Best Buy got the contract to exclusively sell the album after looking into the quantity of illegal downloads.  It might have sealed the deal but the negotiations had been going on since the previous December and there'd have to be a large doubt that anybody would want to buy the album if there'd been all these downloads.  There were 2 million people listening on Myspace in the few days leading up to the release, wouldn't that allow downloads too?

Just focusing on working on the book, it's what weekends are made for.  I've barely even looked up any news items today.  The next book will focus much more on leftism but that's understandable.

Still thinking about Gun'n'Roses as what's wrong with the world today.  Well, not the only thing, it's just easier to blame Axl Rose and get on with our lives.

Right now I'm looking up the most important part of the break-up, the 15 demos Slash gave to Axl who didn't want them, so Slash recorded his first solo album and several months later, Axl reportedly wanted to do something with a couple demos.

On December 14, 2008, Axl described the situation:
"I didn’t walk till several months after having 3-4-hour phone conversations nearly every day with Slash, trying to reach a compromise. I was specifically told no lyrics, no melodies, no changes to anything and to sing what I was told or fuck off."

This makes no sense in several ways.  1) He could have spent 3-4 hours nearly every day recording the lyrics already written and it wouldn't have taken several months to finish.  Assuming Axl is telling the truth (which I don't) having finished work would make a better case to change the lyrics.  He could have recorded his own lyrics during those 3-4 hour sessions every day.  Hell, he could do it right now with the demos, put them on Youtube, and the world would go "WOW, A NEW GUNS'N'ROSES ALBUM!!!"

2)  Lead vocalist Eric Dover is co-credited as song-writer on ten of the fourteen songs on It's Five O'Clock Somewhere and is not credited as playing any instruments.  What did he contribute if he didn't do lyrics?

3)  Given how cooperative Slash has been in every other musical encounter, it seems unlikely that he would have talked like this one time.  Why would he even indicate "no melodies"?  Axl was specifically credited for all "melodies" in Chinese Democracy and he's the one who went all into who gets credit and payment for what in songwriting, when has Slash ever showed the slightest interest in this?  Again, Axl could have dealt with this by producing work and he's the one who wasn't participating.

4)  Duff was dealing with problems like nearly dying from liver problems, he really wasn't contributing much to the band at the time and it seems likely he was just going along with Axl.  What kind of criticism is "Axl thought it was Southern rock - not Guns N’ Roses material. I backed Axl."  "Estranged," "My World" and "Since I Don't Have You" ARE Guns'n'Roses material?

5)  Slash described Axl's reaction much closer to the actual album's release, "all he said was 'I don't feel like playing this kind of music.'"  That's much more believable and follows Slash's typical policy of not forcing people to do something they didn't want to do.  Axl didn't want to do it so Slash did it without him, fast, easy and cheaply.  Making music without dealing with Axl turned out to be a positive thing.  Didn't have to waste 3-4 hours every day listening to him not make music.  Nothing suggests that Axl couldn't have written a keyboard part, put it into the song and sang his own lyrics, nothing except Axl anyway.

After several months of refusing to do any work, after Slash went ahead and did his solo thing, after finding out that his employee had dared to claim the right to do something Axl didn't have full control and ownership of, after another thirteen years had passed, Axl got around to claiming that he was willing to do some work but he was the victim in the scenario.

The release of Chinese Democracy is still fifteen months closer to today than it is to the release of It's Five O'Clock Somewhere but it won't be by the end of 2021.

When I get the chance, I want to look up Axl's specific comments about how compromises and not getting what he want were part of Appetite and UYI so we can find out how much he opposes the music he charges lots of money to sing on stage for the last thirty years instead of all the music he made the way he wanted.

The Nord Stream natural gas pipeline goes through the Baltic to Germany.  This is influence on western Europe that Russia wouldn't have if Biden's masters didn't tell him to do this.  And just a few years ago, the left was outraged by Russia benefiting from a stolen POTUS.

Sensible people have known that for a year now.  But others, if you drink alcohol and get into a car and drive into a brick wall, they want the virus to be blamed for it.  94% of deaths had other causes and they wanted to avoid that fact at all costs.

At most, I paid very little attention to the 'Alpha/Beta/Delta/etc. Male' insights of the last decade and pay even less attention now, but I have to wonder if Gates is [blanking on which version is the horrible one] to the extreme.  He went all those years without getting pussy and now he's rich and famous so he's entitled to as much as he wants whenever he wants it.

I'm still looking at the articles I found about Axl Rose's financial problems.  Obviously they are only partially-descriptive.  For one thing, I've suspected that a lot of people who suddenly become rich and famous are able to get people who know how to manage money.  Of course, if anyone couldn't, it was probably Axl.  Rock stars aren't known for sensible spending habits anyway.

On June 14, 2011, he settled a lawsuit with former manager Irving Azoff.  We'll never know the specifics but Azoff did get G'n'R tour rights for an undetermined number of concerts under Azoff's Live Nation Entertainment.  How and why are more things we don't know, but Axl has done a lot of touring since 2010 and that might be related.  The settlement was made four months before the final round of Chinese Democracy concerts started in the last three months of 2011.  Were those all the required shows or where there more?

What's more interesting is the $2 million mortgages he got for his mansion, starting on March 1, 2002.  Over the next five years, he got six more mortgages, presumably taking up the previous one and giving him more money, although two mortgages were just for $500,000, including the final one on April 23, 2007.  This was following a 2/23/2007 mortgage for $5,525,000.

Mansions aren't cheap.  Mortgages aren't cheap.  Combined for a guy who hadn't done much touring for years, hadn't released almost no music at all for getting close to two decades and had legal and medical issues, that's gotta be expensive.  He lives in Malibu and not the poor section of town either.  He's gotta pay roughly $5,000/month in real estate taxes too.  Mortgages, taxes, maintenance, the mansion itself probably costs a million dollars a year.

There's the lawsuits, some are probably meaningless nonsense like most rich people get, but he's sued by a former G'n'R employee Chris Pitman in 2016 for lack of payment.  He was sued in 2010 by Bentley for damage/overmileage of a leased car which rich people usually don't need.

Pretty sure Chinese Democracy didn't bring in a penny once it was finally released and probably not before that.  Axl owns the business and the owner is the last one to get the profit.  You and I could probably live comfortably for the rest of our lives with a percentage of the money that comes in on "Welcome to the Jungle" or "November Rain," but that's not how life works on rock star's level.

In 2005, Axl sold the rights to G'n'R's music, or at least tried to.  He sold his third of the rights to pre-1998 G'n'R songs and 100% of G'n'R music after that for a 20-year deal with Sanctuary Music Group, run by then-G'n'R manager Merck Mercuriadis, but they were having serious financial problems too.

Obviously his tours weren't cheap, with all the transportation and crew-work required.  I think it was around this point that Axl stopped showing up late.  Of course the band got a large percentage of expensive ticketsales to sing 30-year old songs.  Notice that the people insisting he doesn't do things for the money never mention that.  G'n'R concerts could be free, or at least all money goes to tour employees and none to the *ARTISTE.*  Why buy a mansion if you don't do things for money?  Word is he also bought some property in Vancouver which he sold in 2004 without ever visiting, likewise renting an apartment in New York City in 2011-2 and never going there.  Why?  [The Canadian property is iffy, the building was constructed in 1993 and Axl is one of the two previous owners listed before its current state.  The other is Canucks Hockey player Pavel Bure.]

I notice that most of these articles, and the commenters, take seriously the claims that everyone was pushing a reunion with Slash and Duff.  I can't take that particularly seriously.  Yes, there would be people who want a reunion but I think the majority of the G'n'R audience would be fine with listening to Axl's new music via released albums or concert performances, but he didn't do those.  Slash and Duff played some G'n'R songs on stage and go on to other songs from the rest of their career because they had one.

Slash's Made in Stoke live album has 21 tracks, 7 of which came from G'n'R, another one is his version of the Godfather theme, a cover he started playing in G'n'R concerts.  That's it.  Yes, he would have been fine going back to the band that made him famous but it was obviously more problems than it was worth to deal with Axl.  We don't know how much the divorce from Perla gave him a need to bring in more money.  It's entirely believable that she got a huge chunk of his money and he wanted to replace it as soon as possible, but that would have meant putting up with Axl.  I think Duff was in a similar position, minus the need for money.  If he could come back, sure, no problem, but problems were why he left in the first place.

Izzy just wanted out, especially once he quit using drugs, and he's known Axl the longest.  An argument is made, especially by his fans, that he was the center of the band and without him, it all went downhill.  Steven was fired, Matt may have been as well, it's unclear.

For Axl, it's more like telling him 'you won't do anything without Slash and Duff so let's bring them back' as incentive for him to do something.  Unless he's utterly insane - which is entirely possible - I doubt he still owes mortgages and whatnot after three years of reunion tours.

Not sure how far I'll get into it tonight, but I've found a few interesting essays on the internet regarding something you'd never expect me to write about, Guns'n'Roses.  Specifically Axl Rose.  I know, it's I just came from an alternate dimension but no, it's really me.

There's no way to know how accurate this information is or the writer's experience in the field, but it's an interesting look at Axl's decrease in singing ability.  Actual throat problems.  It's kinda funny - not HA-HA funny - but I've always assumed it was deliberate, that he consciously decided to sound worse.  I guess it's actually good to hear - not HURRAY good - that he didn't go that far, it was an actual problem.

The claim is basically that alot of times he didn't sing within his normal range (2nd baritone) and compensated with what's called "the drive," which is essentially that powerful aspect of his singing.  Worse, he didn't use the "drive" correctly, or at least without proper training.

Apparently the "drive" is very damaging to vocal cords when done through the throat, it should be used through the soft palate, but is very difficult to use that way so a lot of singers don't.

Axl was already having problems singing by the end of the 1991-3 Illusions tour.  I think he sounded weaker on what little I've heard from that era but I wouldn't have noticed much.  The whole point of live singing is that you get one chance to get it right and have to move on no matter how good or bad you were.  Regardless, the audience won't care much because they get to watch G'n'f'n'R, man!  In the studio, there are obviously many more attempts and different styles to attempt before anyone else hears it.

Ok, I just remembered the b-side to one of the UYI singles, I'm blanking on which but it was a live version of a song and I had always noticed Axl sounded weak on that and wondered why they ever used it.  Anyway...

It might explain why Axl did no touring or any kind of appearance for quite a few years.  The Illusions tour would have ended earlier, except that he's spent so much money on needless additions and paying late fees that the band hadn't really made any money from the first two years.  The other article I'll get to suggests that he had money problems for various reasons and must have needed to find an income since there was no new album, but the 2001 tour was almost entirely cancelled and the 2002 tour was cut short after less then two dozen shows after riots in Philadelphia.  The 2006 tour had roughly 76 shows, a few more were cancelled.  20 shows in 2007.  72 shows in 2010.  42 shows in 2011.  49 shows in 2012 for the Up Close and Personal tour, then 17 to start-off Appetite For Democracy.  Another 22 shows in 2013.  24 shows in 2014.  The Not In This Lifetime tour started in 2016 and had 175 shows through 2019.

Sometime after 2000, Axl went in to surgery for the nodules on his vocal cords.  It's said this is what made his voice clearer and less raspy.  This could be why he was finally willing to start touring again.  It may also be why the 2001 tour was cancelled, he wasn't sounding good in the new style.  It's even possible this is why he cancelled the Philadelphia concert which led to the riots.  Years later, he would say he wasn't blameless for not showing up.

He had surgery again in 2004 which helped somewhat.  In 2006, he started using the "drive" again but it wasn't nearly as good as everybody was used to.  Nor was it healthy for him.  He was increasingly out-of-tune which has nothing to do with "drive."  He had sung better in 2002 when he couldn't use "drive."  In 2010, he was the closest to the olden days that his audience remembered.

I'm still a little ambivalent about this article even though there's an obvious response to my objection.  My issue is that 'how could Axl Rose not find anyone after nearly three decades who could give him proper training and maintenance for the voice that got him to where he was?'  Yes, ok, he's Axl Rose, he doesn't do that, but still...

It's possible that he had more nodules after 2010, he's dropped the "drive" since then.  He does sound horrible on the few videos I've seen although I did hear less of a problem on the few videos I saw from the AC-DC tour.  He has less breath than he used to which may or may not be because of the weight he's gained.  It's speculated that much of the songlist was picked because it didn't require "drive" in the studio versions and doesn't have to learn anything new.  This does help explain the bizarre change on the Chinese Democracy songs.  As I said, I thought he did that deliberately.

The article was written by someone on a website from Brazil, I read a translated version.  Given Axl's connections to Brazil, is it possible that the writer was close to this at some point and was repeating established facts?  It's possible, Brazil only has, what, 30 people?

This has been in the news for the last several days, even I've heard about it.  First of all, there's no reason to think it wasn't ordered by the government, or at least they have a role to protect Americans which they obviously won't do for a pipeline.  Second of all, I wonder if they wanted to make people panic about the rising prices.  There were gaslines and shortages in a number of states, similar to the nonsense last year about toilet paper and such.
