The movie has been out for a week now and I really didn't expect to enjoy the failure so much.  Maybe it's just a personal interest for Supergirl that runs deeper than I expected.  Or maybe it's the bizarre cult approach Warner Bros. has taken with this movie.  All year I had to put up with dozens of social media ads every single day.  The studios do this for multiple releases but this one bothered me.  And it's still going on now, a week into the failure.

I'm wondering how much of it comes from this cult behavior.  DC rebooted to have Zach Snyder rebuild the franchise as a whole, then he was kicked out and James Gunn was hire for another reboot.  This would be impossible to win an audience even in the cheap and easy medium of comics, to do it with giant expensive mass-corporate franchises is beyond insanity.

The movie has only made $81 million worldwide in its first week.  You have to look around to find recent superhero movies that did worse.  But even stranger, day seven's tallies still haven't been released although every other movie's July 2 ticket-sales have come out.  What are they hiding?  For that matter, how are they hiding it?

The company is doing a horrible job of defending itself, the latest announcement has about a half-dozen blames on "misogyny" for the failure but also stresses that we need to see this movie to know what's happening in next year's Superman movie.  This guarantees that it will be an even bigger failure and they're still going to spend the next year promoting this.  We told them in advance this movie would fail and they ignored it, the next failure's going to be a lot worse.

But it's still being promoted endlessly on social media.  There's some change in the tone, most of them admit it's a failure.  You can argue that these are just 'bots or that my algorithm is why they show up on my media but that doesn't explain why anyone would bother producing so much in the first place.  Either someone is trying to turn this movie into a hit or at least there's a staff of marketers who are paid to do this for another week or month no matter what.  Either way that's why I think there's a cult handling this.

This isn't the really suspicious one he had where they couldn't figure out how many guys he had drunkenly driving around with him, this one is totally different.  He hit a parked car and drove off because who cares?  He can buy a new car, he's an old rich white self-identifies as male.

By his own admission, he knew he had hit something, but he did not know what, so he kept driving.  Uh, several problems with that defense.  How do you not know what you hit?  If you hit another car, looking is a good way to find out.  It's especially helpful in case you hit some, or someone, who is too small to be easily visible after you've slammed them with your vehicle.

And then, again by his own admission, he just kept driving until the car stopped working for some mysterious reason.  That happens to me too when I hit something with my car, it's probably Trump's fault.  The details come from the sheriff's office so the higher-ups knew who they had to cover, this wasn't just some random cop talking.

It happened around 2:30pm so it's quite possible he was totally drunk or on some other drugs.  No word on if he had any passengers but that's the sort of thing he'd prefer to keep secret.  So he's driving around, doesn't know what he's crashing into, doesn't bother to check and, worst of all, his car is damaged.  Sounds like a typical healthy 86-year old.  And he's allowed to do this.

Of course he won't be punished, of course he won't be in trouble, it's quite likely he'll have no problems going out to do it again.  He's rich and white, no Democrat would ever complain about that.  Especially with his gay marriage.  It just gets swept under the rug like everything else.

□ [“Top Democrats Announce They Will Stack SCOTUS and Nuke the Filibuster If They Take Power"]

But... that's what Donald Trump wants.  And he's a tyrant.  So first of all that means you want to be tyrants.  Second of all, Trump could just start doing that now with your full support.  He could be using your words and arguments and Democrats in Congress would have to support him or admit they just want power.

Trump already has responded and, in his usual annoying way, doesn't even mention that obvious solution.  He opposes the filibuster too, it would be a good move to point out in public that his enemy is trying to do the same thing.  Call it a 'peace offering.'  It's one of those things that makes me really believe there's an imposter handling all his public statements, he could just go 'hell yeah!  Let's make it happen immediately!' and they'd be stuck.

Otherwise it looks like he's setting up a trap for himself.  The uniparty could take over at any moment, or steal the November elections, and they win.  At least the response now would point out what they're doing and why.  And keep in mind, I say this as someone who supports the filibuster and certainly see no reason to add new judges to the SCOTUS.  But Trump would look better if he makes that point now.

It's taken them long enough.  This war has really gone off our radar for the last couple years.  I still think it was deliberate, Russia had to go slowly as a way to avoid the US or Europe getting too involved.  Ok, that's strange but I guess it's believable.  But reportedly Ukraine has been causing more damage with drones for quite a while.  It's not clear if they hit anything meaningful and of course Russia hits the same thing so I don't know if it really makes a difference in the war.  I'm sure military tacticians and strategists will be studying this for decades.

But Ukraine's relationship with the rest of Europe is changing.  The elites are still trying to get them to join the EU and NATO regardless of the actual rules but are also less determined.  A couple weeks ago, the EU expanded 'refugee status' for Ukrainians yet will not apply that to military-aged males.  Of all the genders, this is the one they refuse to allow to stay in Europe any longer.  Wonder what they'll do with the women and children with no men to protect them.

But it gets worse, at least for Ukraine.  Hungary is still trying to block them from joining the EU.  France sent journalists to the front lines to make a point of reporting what lousy shape the Ukrainian military is in these days.  Poland is criticizing them for their supporting Germany in WWIII.  Zelensky is threatening war with Belarus for helping Russia because why not add another country to the mix?

And Germany has arrested a Ukrainian for "war crimes," helping to sabotague the Nord Stream pipeline.  They say he was working directly for the Ukraine government, the ones who deserve the blame.  I assume they've investigated enough to know but the US was obviously involved.  Joe Biden of all people made a point of saying if a war got started there, the pipeline was gone and that's what happened within a few months.  I really don't get point of hitting the pipeline, it obviously hasn't hurt Russia much and what problems it did cause was shared by the EU customers.  But they keep investigating so we'll see where it goes.  By now I think this war has lasted longer than WWI.  If not, it's close.
