Well, I did waste some time at the local protest today.  Lots of signs, lots of old white people, roughly the same attendees as the last one I went to several months ago.  More people did drag their kids along, or grandkids.  I think there were more young people old enough to have other things to do, but not many, and at least some appeared to be employees of the event.  Saw more people bringing their dogs than black people, I'd been there for about a half-hour before I definitely saw more black people than you could count on one hand.  There were more people in wheelchairs than non-whites.

A fair percentage of the signs looked hand-made but there's still no sense that this was an organic movement.  They all seemed to just be there, like moths to a flame.  For the most part, I wasn't close, but I noticed that whenever the speakers got a lot of laughter or applause, the people in my line-of-sight weren't participating.  Assuming it wasn't just recorded sound clips - and I assume it wasn't - the people making the noise were motivated to all sit up front, where they were effectively hidden by the rest of the attendees.

I'm sure the leftist sites are all raving about what a success this was, the biggest-ever protest in history or something like that.  So now we'll have to see what Democrats want to do next week.  One thing to remember is that right-wingers don't get together for protests like this.  The last few months have shown that we're willing to operate more quietly and affectively.  Didn't see any Charlie Kirk memorials, wonder why they ignored that.

Hopefully the Republicans in Congress won't cave in although that's obviously a worry.  I didn't get the impression that Democrats have anything to work with but we'll have to wait and see.  And they'll have to see the normal people getting up and going to work as we've down without a federal government to provide everything.

Day 18 without a federal government.  Today I got to spend time with a lot of people who think like me standing around and laughing and clapping when we were told to.  That's unity.  People who can't sing made up songs with no instruments and we copied whatever they just said.  We recited "This Land Is My Land" over and over because what are we going to do, sing the national anthem?  Hell no!

Almost everybody there was an old friend of mine.  We've done this for decades, although I stopped doing drugs a couple years ago so I don' remember any of that stuff.  But it's comfortable to see the people you're used to and not have to put up with any newcomers.  Especially the kids today, they're no good.  In my day we were brought up right.  I wouldn't want those weenies at our noble protests anyway.  Now I need to get home to see the media talk about how big and influential we were today.  Everybody listens to us, just like the speakers said today and we applauded.

□ [“'No Kings' Protests Across the Country (and World) Highlight Rebels Without a Clue"]

Still anecdotal but it does sound like this was what we expected it would be.  Old white women and whoever they could drag along with them.  There was one in London, where they didn't realize that they actually do have a king.  Apparently there were also some elsewhere in Europe where they do have monarchs and were a little smarter, changing it to "No Tyranny."  I made that point a couple days ago, if Trump's a tyrant, why not oppose that instead of pretending he has any interest in being a king?

At least some lead Democrats attended their local protests but I was struck when Hillary spoke out about them recently, the self-appointed queen of the old white women.  People like Bernie Sanders would be included but I got the impression Hillary was behind this, it was her push for relevance the only way she knows.  Perhaps she was using whatever influence she has left to get Democrats to hold out on the government shutdown.  If I'm right about that, I'm sure this will fail.  Even if I'm not right, there's a good chance it failed.

It does make the point if that if they're truly oppressed and tyrannized and whatever, they wouldn't be allowed to do this.  Like they said for decades about Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro and their ilk, they never had protests against them so that's how the US should be more like them.  Maybe now they'll turn to Antifa to do the real work.

□ [“Hamas Refuses to Disarm, Will Keep Control of Gaza, Says 'Peace Deal' Is Only a Cease-Fire"]

Totally expected.  The Muslim world isn't known for peace treaties, both sides just agree to stop fighting for however many years, three to five in this case.  Not sure that's specific to the Muslim world, it might be natural for tribes, agreeing not to fight for a given amount of time and will punish any of their own people who try to start something.  Perhaps that helped establish the nation-state, where you need a ruler to be able to enforce that and hold the other country accountable.

But Hamas isn't giving up power, at least not peacefully.  If this multi-national committee or whatever it is expects to call the shots, they'll need to go through Hamas.  This is probably why Trump made sure he was on that committee so he'll know if they're going along or not.  This does make me wonder what the reaction of the freed Hamas members will be, will they recognize the Gaza they see now?  Will they go along with whatever changes have been made?

Trump probably knows they're not going to go along with this.  He's putting out messages to 'stop killing people' and that'll just be ignored.  But now that I think about it, haven't heard much from the 'free Palestine' crowd lately.  As leftists, they're delusional but how are they trying to work this out in their own heads?  And I don't mean just asking if the gay bars and abortion clinics are being re-opened, but they've supported Hamas who is now shooting a lot of people, and being shot by a lot of other people, all of whom are supposed to be the oppressed Philistines.

So which side do you pick?  Or is this one of those things that's suddenly not important anymore until it's time to try destroying Israel again?
