□ [“Keir Starmer Resigns as British Prime Minister – Andy Burnham Expected To Be His Successor"]

Fifth one in the last decade and one of the quicker ones to leave, he was just nearing the second anniversary.  This new guy will probably be installed, he rushed out with a generic statement thanking Starmer for his accomplishments and wishing him luck on his future endeavors.  At no point do the people get a say in the matter, they voted for their local member of Parliament and after that, it's the politicians who cast all the votes to promote someone.

It's one of those quirky distinctions between nations.  As Americans we say that looks totally stupid, the British would point out that they didn't get where they are (in a good way) by going along with some whack-a-doodle new way of doing things.  Given the last few decades, that's evidence that they should have stuck with things the way they were.

Anyway, no one's going to miss Starmer.  Nobody liked him anyway but I haven't seen any actual reason given for his resignation.  The population is ready to blow but you'd think he'd think he's able to 'ride it out.'  He never had to do anything to stop the child rape gangs and can just arrest people for saying things he doesn't like on the internet, why quit now?

Top-of-my-head guess, it's because the British leaders are weak so they're just passing the top-spot around from one to the next.  They've had ten years to repeal Brexit and it doesn't sound like that's happening any time soon.  Otherwise, and this may be contradictory, they just need to pass time until the new people are a large majority and can get rid of those inferior Britons.  Starmer did what he could to achieve the goal and will be replaced by someone just as bad.

□ [“'The Deep State Firings Have Begun' – Bill Pulte Starts Slashing Jobs at Office of DNI"]

At some point we're going to need an explanation of why it took a year and a half to get this started.  Yes, there are convoluted rules and regulations on the matter, at some point Congressional permission is needed, but come on!  Trump already had one term to see how this stuff works and a Republican Congress he's now in danger of losing (if the voter fraud still works) so this just comes off as a waste of time.

That said, there's suddenly a bunch of stories about activist judges and courts ruling against Trump in various ways, like they've all been preparing for something.  A DC judge blocked the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from firing people.  The CFPB doesn't respond to Congress, they're a special office in the Executive Branch.  Blame Elizabeth Warren for Trump having all the authority he needs.

It's not clear what options the deep staters have other than courts.  They're not that tough but they do have authority.  Hopefully they're stereotypical leftists who have no real clue what they can do and can easily be pushed out of the office.  But we can't rely on that.  The Trump administration better have back-up plans in place because if Democrats ever get the chance to officially go for revenge, these people will be in charge of the foot soldiers.

□ [“JD Vance Calls Iran Talks 'Very Good Foundation' to End War, Iran Will Have IAEA Nuclear Inspectors"]

I'm getting slightly-more optimistic that this was a good move although it's still quite weird in places.  Why is Vance handling this while the Secretary of State and the Department of War aren't involved?  I can come up with several possible reasons - internal fighting, they're busy handling Iran's allies, they're present but silent - so there's no point of guessing on that.  I still think these talks are mostly a distraction and Iran still has no one worth seriously negotiating with.

But the US clearly has the upper-hand in this.  Not just militarily.  Iran has no military, its oil is only now able to be transported through the Strait.  Their leaders don't have a clear chain-of-command and don't even get a war out of this so about all they can do is turn on each other.  Their only other chance is that they have enough influence on western leaders to have them gang up on Trump and the US which, well, doesn't seem likely at this point.

Nothing is settled yet but Trump has been able to do this without an actual fight.  16 kills, 500+ wounded, we had more deaths (but fewer injuries) in the 1990 attack on Panama and a lot fewer than the 1991 attack on Iraq.  This is clearly a much bigger victory.  If I had a convenient A.I. picture generator, I'd do a pic of Trump glaring at his predecessors for the last 50 years and saying 'you could have done this and saved everyone a lot of problems!'

It's not over yet, there's still a lot more that could go wrong but we're clearly headed in the right direction.  The mullahs and IRGC are done, they just don't realize it yet.  My main complaint is that this is taking so long and yeah, I know the enemy gets a vote.  But they've got their own internal conflict so we'll see how long that takes to explode.

□ [“Entitled California State Workers Threaten ‘Mass Exodus’ Over Return-to-Office Order"]

Their expensive office buildings have been basically empty since the virus.  Newsom has ordered them to actually go back to work four days a work.  They say they're entitled to stay home and don't have to obey his orders anyway.  They're Newsom's supporters, what's he going to do?

I think at some point they'll have to give in and show up to work although it might not be four times a week.  It also depends on how long their strike lasts.  If they're just doing it a day or two just for show, well, I'm not sure what difference it'll make.  Newsom needs to act like a leader but he can't turn against his own people unless he gets paid for it.  They need to show that they actually get paid for something and can follow orders but they're also solid Democrat voters so that's not going to happen.

So it's basically one of those things where we hope both sides lose.  But the longer this goes on, the worse they'll look.  Newsom can't handle any problems with his own people he's in charge of and the strikers show this is what California government is worth.  That's been obvious for a year and a half since they let a large part of the state burn down.  Maybe they should do that here with all the empty government offices.
