The only way to make my life better is to wear tights and punch people. That's always guaranteed to succeed.

□ [“Massachusetts Coastal Community Receive Letters to Not Fly US Flags on Their Own Property"]

Oh hell no!  A day or two ago it was reported that the governor of Utah was forbidding fireworks on July 4.  Their excuse was that fires were going on at the time.  Ok, that's maybe a legitimate excuse.  This excuse is that the flags somehow affect shorebirds.  Well 250 years of getting through it is enough, they can go away permanently.

Are they trying to remind us of the resistance this country was founded on?  Got to admit, that seems like the best excuse I could think of because otherwise it's just so stupid.  Because otherwise there's an increasing number of examples of leftist elites looking to remove the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and other building blocks of this country which they hate so much.

It goes even deeper than that, notice that they're banning your expression of your support on your own property.  That's a rule that goes back a lot further than the US, a man's home is his castle and damn right he gets to fly the flag there.  The people pushing these petty little rules are just identifying themselves as the enemy along with everybody they're connected to who tolerates this.

□ [“Trump:  'The Islamic Republic of Iran Will No Longer Exist' Following Collapse of Ceasefire"]

He's now admitting the ceasefire is over, we're hitting Iran again.  We could have done that three fricking months ago, what's the point of waiting?  He's still restrained, getting rid of the government is only if they get to a point where we can't be reasonable any longer.  It would be easy to say we've passed that, 'we've had enough.'  Why are they still breathing?

I'm worried that this doesn't look good to the Iranians, or anyone else.  The fact that Trump held back this long gives the impression, true or not, that he's unwilling to carry it out.  The Mullahs just need to hold out and the Iranian people are screwed.  He took care of Venezuela in a few hours.  Iran could take longer but four months?

I keep saying there's a long-range plan going on here but that has to eventually show some genuine progress.  Trump is not putting troops on the ground - that we know of - so that does limit what we're capable of doing.  That said, the gas prices are still decreasing and I'm guessing that will keep going so it takes away a lot of liberal complaints.  Now that I think about it, they aren't protesting and I can't think of anything in the way of complaints at this point.  Congress certainly doesn't want to get involved, they certainly have better info than we do.

□ [“Van Jones Frets About ‘Democratic Socialists of America’ Take Over of Party"]
□ [“Rahm Emanuel on This Week's DSA Victories in NYC – They Don’t Help Democrats"]

Van points out that these people aren't doing anything to interest people who don't already hate America.  Rahm is looking at the elections he's observed over the years and admits that you don't win by going far left.  Quite the opposite, you're not bringing in new voters, you're pushing existing voters away.

For some reason this looks very similar to what we've seen for the last few years with Disney or other movie studios going *woke* and declaring that they'll find a new audience, only to destroy their huge franchises because no one is interested.  We see that with the Supergirl and Star Wars movies currently bombing in theaters.  There's also the other big companies, Bud Lite is the one I always cite, that also went *woke* and also got rid of their existing fans.

The behavior is the same although I can't figure out how the same mentality could be pushing this from both sides.  For the companies, it was incredibly stupid and I can't figure out how they all did this no matter what evidence of failure they had.  They're businesses, they need to make a profit, the numbers can be moved around but there's a point where they can't lie.

It's totally different for politicians.  To a large extent they can ignore the real people and go along with fake votes.  As long as everybody agrees with this at every step of the process, that's the ending they'll get.  At least politicians can start delusional and just get worse, I don't see how this would work for a business.  That's why I don't see how the mentality is the same because the situations are so vastly different.

But we see this now with long-time Democrat elites who have a lot of experience dealing with the public and dealing with their peers behind closed doors.  Like them or not, they have a sensible view of the overall political picture which socialists refuse to have.  They're just going to cause problems which only right-wing solutions will fix.  The usual example I point to is how the Russian Orthodox Church had been banned for a couple decades but was needed to actually bring Russians out to fight for their country.

This is the situation Democrats are pushing themselves into.  There's another news article about a gay California state senator attending a San Francisco trans march and being constantly chewed out because he doesn't support Palestine enough.  Democrats are finally starting to see how many of their own supporters will support mass death before they'll ever admit to being wrong.  That's who the party is tied to.

□ [“Supergirl and the Doom of the DCU"]

I'm a bit surprised about how interested I've been in this movie coming out so I could finally talk about what a bomb it is.  I've never been that interested in Supergirl.  In my youth I was much more interested in Star Wars and I barely even think of their recent movie failure.  I didn't even know it was still in theaters.  But I do have some small affection for Supergirl and don't like what they've done to her.  I've also seen more references to the 1984 Helen Slater movie than I've seen since, well, 1984.

Thursday previews are combined with Friday release and it's still not doing as well as The Marvels.  At least that movie was a sequel to the immensely-successful Captain Marvel movie, this is just a spin-off of last year's less-successful Superman movie.  By all accounts it's a boring 'girl-boss' movie, it has nothing to connect it to people who live on Earth and barely has Lobo.  An R-rated Lobo movie would have a chance at success, here he can't even punch Supergirl in the face.  Why else would Lobo be there?

DC is trying to rush out a Superman sequel next year but that just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.  It would be one thing if they did the character right but this is just trying to build a huge movie franchise of decades-old men-in-tights who are lucky to have a two-dimensional personality.

Marvel was a fluke.  They were able to move the right direction, they didn't make it too complicated and had the novelty of no real competition.  They also can't duplicate that success, nobody's looking forward to whatever the Avengers will be doing this winter.  DC was trying to copy that and had less to work with.  They had movies, some of which were successful, then rebooted it in 2014 to copy Marvel, then rebooted it again in 2023 and haven't had a success since then.

I've gotten better at knowing in advance these movies will fail, people who actually pay attention to them are probably even better at that.  There's a certain politeness that keeps us from just announcing the failure will happen even when we know we're 99% guaranteed to be correct.  But Hollywood can't even perceive of that.  They just double down on rhetoric about how we're all obeying some unnamed youtube poster.  8 billion people on the planet aren't seeing these movies, maybe it's because the movies themselves aren't interesting.  But the studios are more interested in trying to build a franchise, no matter how much failure they already have.
