□ [“Poland Urges Trump To Establish Permanent Military Base in the Country"]
□ [“Lithuania Wants To Host US Nukes in Its Territory"]
On Poland I could go either way. I'm fine with us expanding our 'global policeman' job but I'm not fine with pissing off Russia just to piss off Russia. With Lithuania, I'm slightly more skeptical, just because 'let us have your nukes' isn't really a good topic of discussion. How do we stop them from sabotaging the nukes or using them against us?
More relevant is that these members of NATO and the EU are asking us directly. All these allies nearby and they're not the ones you ask for help. In some cases they're ignoring the war and attacking the EU for its 'climate agenda.' Eastern Europe has long made the point that the EU is basically the communists they spent decades trying to escape from. I've long wondered if that was the real goal of the Soviet collapse, to flush this out into the rest of the continent. Which clearly worked.
The war with Ukraine seems to still keep going like it has for four+ years. Kiev is being destroyed with missiles and drones but at this point it doesn't seem to make a difference. If the people aren't telling their government to surrender - if they're permitted to say that - nothing's going to happen. Which does seem odd given what's going on across Europe as citizens resist their governments but anyway...
Peace talks with the US are continuing although nobody pays attention. Even if we did, I'm not sure we'd have a clue what they're talking about at this point. Trump's had a year and a half to let Ukraine solve its own problems but hasn't done that so what else is going on? The rest of Europe has shown no interest in building an actual military that's capable of anything. If this was about reenacting the ongoing war of
1984
between Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia, what exactly would they be doing differently?

□ [“Four Senate Republicans Join Democrats to Reject SAVE America Act 48-50"]
All of a sudden Congress has started doing something and mostly against Trump. It might have occurred to them that there are elections later this year and they need to look like they've done anything to earn a paycheck. In Trump's case, I would say this is why we need more actual wins. He's way behind on that. He's probably counting on the wins he does have to encourage major victories in the vote this November. He may be right about that but I wouldn't be on it.
□ [“Senate Blocks Construction of White House Ballroom, Six Republicans Vote with Democrats"]
This one has always seemed stupid on all sides. Trump's the sort of person who wants to build or re-build stuff. The White House ballroom was out-of-date and considered too small for modern use. So he took it down and by most accounts had private donators funding the new ballroom's construction. So why is Congress involved at all? Because they're wussies and obsessed with a ballroom. It sounds like there's a lot more building going on than just a dance floor but this is part of the commander-in-chief's home, I'd assume it's loaded with every weapon available.
□ [“Senate GOP Narrowly Defeats Schumer’s Amendment to Ban Trump’s Weaponization Fund"]
Then there's this. I haven't paid any attention to the 'weaponization fund.' It seems to be a fund to help people who were persecuted by the Biden administration. It might be a nice idea but I'm not sure it's something the government should do. Repay the victims financially what they lost, fine, but anything else is a perk which most people don't get anyway. You can say it's totally wrong but that's just the way government is. You overpay a bill to them, they'll send you a refund when they get around to it. They overpay a bill to you, they want immediate reimbursement and will punish you for noncompliance.
Until I started writing this, I hadn't noticed that these were all Senate bills. I assume they're up to something although I can't imagine what. Other than trying to get as many Republicans as possible to turn on Trump, none of this seems to have any purpose. I doubt any of this will make voters decide to support or oppose any particular candidate so who is this supposed to appeal to?

□ [“Three Ex-Lovers of Graham Platner Reveal His Physical Abuse, Behavior and Sickening Remarks"]
They'll just win more Democrat votes for him. I'm increasingly convinced that he's going to win. Why else would they have waited so long to say anything about him? He fantasized about killing people he thought were a threat and if anyone broke in, he'd rape them just to prove his dominance. And this isn't standard Democrat policy how exactly?
As always, the 'believe all women' crowd have found something better to do. I think Platner is doing a big interview soon but otherwise has been ordered to stay quiet so he doesn't hurt his campaign any more. He'll still get enough stolen votes but they need to at least appear to be real. But still, Democrats must really be wondering how the party handles these background checks. You can't ask an ex-girlfriend what he's like?
But keep in mind these women may be lying. Or worse, they have no clue what is or isn't true. What sort of women would you expect to be attracted to a guy like this and stay with him for long periods of time? They'll probably still vote for him and don't even need to be in Maine. They could have done something to stop his career from advancing and all held back so now he's on the edge of gaining real power. Thanks, ladies.

□ [“Jill Biden Defends Hunter Biden Pardon in CBS Interview"]
This was from several days ago, admitting that Hunter would have gone to jail without the pardon, but she's still going. She and Hunter are the only two family members who can actually do anything and Hunter doesn't have a very good image. At least Jill has been able to be a successful politician's wife for a few decades.
But everybody seems to understand this is about blaming Biden and his people for everything that went wrong. Even Republicans wouldn't do that, they know that the people who installed Biden deserve most of the blame, but Democrats think it will fix everything for them. For some reason the party has always believed the past can be erased or rewritten to whatever they want. "Let the past die, kill it if you have to," as a recent
Star Wars
movie said, made by Democrat donors.
They can't blame Harris because then they have to answer why they were so ignorant of a long-term Democrat's incompetence. Biden was in Congress, they already knew that about him. And anything else gets people to ask who was in charge and why they did this so privately. That's not how you support the public. This will probably take the Bidens out of the picture but it won't solve the party's problems. We need to reinforce their defeat and I don't think another election cycle will be enough to do that.
Jill will probably vanish for the most part after this book tour. Hunter will make some noise but it's mostly ignorable except to make fun of him. But that's just getting rid of a few symptoms, the party still has much deeper problems they want to ignore. Because that will lead them to victory.
