The details won't be released for a couple days.  There's no explanation of why they need to sign a "memo" on each side if that's the deal and then do a big official signing in Switzerland.  I guess it's probably about representing the agreement to their own sides - electronically - and then in person for the actual deal.  Israel is not involved.  Because they still need to defend themselves or because they aren't interested in 'peace,' your mileage may vary.

We're told that Iranian assets will remain frozen until Iran has lived up to the deal.  There's not even a sense that Iran's parliament has any role in the decision-making, especially after the last few months, yet they're the ones stepping up for this?  Despite all that, I still have a sense of optimism about this.  As negative as this might seem - why is Vance signing?  Why do Trump's internet posts keep praising Allah?  Why does this seem to have been scheduled to happen now? - I'm going to go with optimism for a little while.  I'll get over it soon but this was handled well.

The timing is possibly the most suspicious aspect.  As a showman, Trump would want something big to happen, building up to July 4th.  I totally agree with that, I just wish it was something more concrete than a possible deal with our enemies.  There was a nice show for the UFC event at the White House, foreign tourists are shocked to actually look at the US while they attend the World Cup.  Now Iran appears to have given in.  It *sounds* good but we'll have to see where it goes.

As much as I criticize him, one thing that Trump always wins me over with is how he doesn't stop working.  Even here, he's chatting with Zelensky and Putin and says they're willing to give it a rest until he's out of office.  It's still none of our business and I will criticize him for getting involved but it is a natural next-step.  If this works out with Iran, might as well help Russia and Ukraine next.  How many hoops will the Nobel Committee need to jump through to prevent him from getting a peace prize next year?

The guy just hosted the UFC event and is headed out to deal with Iran, might as well stop and handle G7 while he's got a few minutes.  He's brought several cabinet members and officials, they landed in Switzerland and were met by officials there, including the US ambassador to Switzerland, Mrs. Newt Gingrich the 3rd.  And her husband.  Why is he there?

Then he met with Macron, just a few minor anecdotes.  Trump threatens tariffs on French wine and trashed Obama for giving money to Iran.  I'm getting the impression that this meeting is about selling the Iran agreement to others, US allies who may have their own goals.  These people also want war with Russia, another example of why I think these negotiations covered a lot more than just fighting with Iran.  There's also the problems with NATO expecting the US to handle everything.

Europe is still deep into chaos.  The front-runner for French President is a right-winger who says the obsolete EU must be revamped, not destroyed.  The EU is causing these problems, you idiot.  It must be destroyed.  Over in Rome, thousands of protestors are demanding that immigrants be kicked out and the borders secured.  Over in Germany, an African migrant beheaded another German woman.  Over in Britain, Starmer expects to protect under-16 year olds from social media posts even though he can't protect them from immigrant rapists.  I hope Trump does something but there's no way he can fix these problems.

The rules must be very specific and archaic, covering what the POTUS can, can't and must do for setting up their libraries.  It's obviously not something Joe Biden has to worry about unless veeps get a library too but this doesn't look good.  It's supposed to be opening this month (unless I'm misreading it) so unless Obama gets a real job, he needs to cover that safety net somehow.

He stole this land from a poor neighborhood in Chicago, built this enormous ugly hunk of stone to call it a "library" and hasn't even been able to pay the companies who did the work.  The executives-in-charge are well paid for this, where is that money coming from?  Did Obama just expect everything to work because his name was on it?  Well when you put it that way, probably.  It's how he's gotten this far just voting "present."

He doesn't have any authority anymore so there's no reason to bribe him.  That means he has to raise the money himself.  This may be why he's suddenly been making public appearances, criticizing the Iran deal.  The library is expected to be expensive for visitors so they aren't getting money that way.  The poor people in the neighborhood can't go either.  There will be some celebrities when it opens, maybe a few appearances for the next several months but what else is there?

This seems pointless.  They can't do anything to attract new voters which is really necessary when they're already losing them.  This is just blatant power-lust and they're not even trying to hide it.  Well some of them aren't like Warnock, others need to put up with these people.  This won't help either.  They're making things worse for themselves.

By all rights, the Trump administration and various states will be tightly focused on the upcoming elections to make sure they aren't stolen.  If that goes as planned, Democrats will be even worse off than they are now, which boggles the mind.  But unfortunately there's no way to be confident about this.  Although they've did everything they could do to steal in 2024 and failed but we must continue to worry that they'll succeed this time.

I don't get why nobody ever asks them if they'd support Trump doing this.  Why doesn't Trump make these comments, you'd expect him to think of that sooner or later.  Let Democrats show everyone that they'll immediately turn against their own supposed beliefs as soon as it stops being convenient to them.  Maybe he'll try that after this November with a MAGA Congress.  Basically every Supreme Court justice would be in over whatever the limits are so they'd need to be replaced, along with another half-dozen MAGA judges.  I would rather he not go through with that but it would be great to see the left react.
